Just a though.
As many of you know Lyft will be lowering rates by 15%. 1.10 a mile will now be .93c per mile.
Couple things that uber may do:
1. Uber may lower its prices as well, and as a result may cause many not to drive anymore.
2. The market will be over saturated with uber drivers due to many lyft drivers not driving for lyft anymore.
OR
3. Uber may keep the same prices, therefore separating itself as the more exclusive brand.

What do you guys think is going to happen?

I would run Lyft when Uber surge was gone...did ok only ran for a few hours and made $65 and almost $30 in tips. Lyft is offering a guarantee this weekend 20/hr Friday night and 25/hr Sat night. I opted in. I could see Uber decided to drop the rate again. I understand bring rideshare to the masses, but nothing is worst than dealing with cheap and rude pax

Lyft is going to lose a bunch of drivers. With the price drop its now become pointless for dual app drivers to use their app.

Uber shouldn't worry about Lyft's price drop, and may want to raise their rates to $1.10 to ensure there aren't any cars available on the Lyft side.

Uber will probably drop fares again though. Drivers will quit and surges will happen. It's a cycle we've seen before.

1 & 2 are likely scenarios. 3 is wishful thinking ... When Lysft goes to .93c on the 24th... I bet you anything Uber will have an announcement for price cuts on the 25th... hell may even go to .90c/mile

I for one will be saying the hell with Uber and his pink little sister... The new drivers can have it. More power to them!

San Diego is the 4th most expensive city in the states. The fact that the present rate is @ $ 1.10 / mile is an absolute disgrace and a tragedy of epic proportions when it comes to this ride sharing companies that have no creative minds in their marketing departments. The only thing they know how to do is cut rates which punishes time and time again, only one party to this intricate equation: the individual driver who's trying to make a living at this ridiculously stupid and immoral rates.

I've gotten 10 free trip messages on my Lyft rider account. And also Lyft doing 50% off on Mondays.
I'm sure other Lyft riders are also getting similar freebies.

That's probably one of the reasons why we Uber drivers are getting less rides. Nothing beats free or 50% off.

I find it funny that over this weekend, I saw Lyft requests equal my Uber requests. I think riders are aware of what's going on. Lyft is a slightly more "expensive" option but with the new price cuts, they will be just as low, if not lower than, Uber. If the price falls lower than $1.00 a mile, I will remove my Lyft app. I may be a new driver, but I'm not a freaking idiot. Wait...I'm a new driver. Maybe I am an idiot!

I don't recall getting an email saying that lyft was cutting their rates by 15%, I remember lyft saying they were running a special at a reduced rate by 15%. isn't this like their special they had last month or the month before where mondays were 1.2 off? they still paid the drivers the same.

Here is what I received from Lyft:

"Increasing Demand in Los Angeles

We've been ramping up local marketing in Los Angeles this summer, from our college back-to-school campaign to our big half-off promo. To make our campaigns even more effective, and welcome the resulting wave of new passengers, we're lowering prices up to 15% here starting Thursday, Sept. 24.

Affordability is a top reason people choose Lyft, and it's your friendly rides that keep them coming back. Read on for more opportunities to increase your earnings, and check your Driver Digest each week to see how we're continuing to bring you more passengers."
