compared to Pittsburgh. I know living in Pittsburgh taxis don't exist. gypsies are around, but cabbies? you go either to the airport(to/from) or tot he casino anything else "NOPE!". the mayor himself has clled out the PUC as BS and he supports having such services, if anything to kick taxi drivers in the ass to fix their crap.

so why is it the polar opposite in philly?

Philadelphia administration met its match. Philadelphia is cashing in on various anti-constitutional activities like red-cameras, various ticketing techniques. Now, Uber is dipping its hand into the city, and corrupt philadelphia administrations wants its share. so this is why they will try to profit from drivers: ticketing, lisenzures, etc you name it... philadelphia admin does not care about making things easier for people who live in the city. they make tons of money from bridges, ticketing. yet the benjamin bridge has not been painted in years, roads are horrible. Subway/metro system smells like someone's outdoor bathroom, and it is outdated, ugly.

anyway, i am more of a public transportation person if i know i am being cheap, and i will not be able to tip the driver. i take taxi only if i have extra cash to tip. if i do not tip, it messes up my mind. and people are cheap, they already find it OK not to tip for services. Uber encourages to break this rule of tipping, this is not american.
