When I signed up for Uber last year, I actually went to the uber greenlight hub in DT thinking it was necessary. But several friends said they signed all through the app with no need to go in person. Is that true? If so, what are some of the reasons you would need to go to the hub? Is it mainly to resolve issues?

Its alot quicker. They approve you on the spot if you have all the right documents. Instead of waiting for somw csr somewhere to approve you. Its also a lot easier to get any questions answered.
Don't lie, Uber does not do on the spot approval. The applicantion process starts online. The benefit of going to the office is that sometimes when people apply online it takes minimum three days for a background check by Toronto police and for your docs to be reviewed. Greenlight helps only to speed up the activation process, which is kinda seperate from the application process.
