Can you see a clear path to viability for a $30K+ vehicle on the base level platforms? I would have thought it would take more than a full charge each day to run enough rides to pay the bills. A 5-year auto loan at FCU rates will run ~$600/month. Insurance+rideshare rider adds another couple hundred. And monthly rent? Fuggedaboutit!

Of course, as a vehicle in the real world the Leaf is great! Drivers are just not existing in the real world.

I've been thinking about investing in a Nissan leaf I know they have the extended version coming out soon anyone out there have any good feedback on electric cars for rideshare.?
THANKS
I'd think twice about the Leaf. They're very small, aside from all the 1 stars you could expect because of that.....I wouldn't be surprised if see Uber/Lyft didn't allow them at some point in the future. Even with the extended range that's allegedly coming, would it be enough for your driving habits? Wouldn't work for me.....

Lastly, there's a reason they're dirt cheap used....

please do not spend more then 8-10k on a car for rideshare....u will not get more tips or a better rating or more surge. I bought my 13 sonata for $10,100 with 60k miles in 2015 and it has now 185k and still going. it was registered to tlc for the first 2 years and now I'm here as a jersey driver. once the trans or motor goes, its either a used high mileage Lincoln MKT or ford explore. if I cant find a decent one, its a sonata, fusion or canary.....

but DO NOT, I repeat...DO NOT spend over 10k on a car for uber. I see guys with 3-4k cars out here......rates are the same

I use an electric car and I love it. I agree with others that you shouldn't invest that much money to do Uber X...... not worth it. But if you want to buy an electric car because you are in need of a car for your family use then I do recommend EV's.
Don't buy a new car for rideshare.
