Damn,
The entire wheel or just a flat, where did it happen at? I've been running high beams lately to try to see them in advance of hitting them.
Just the bent wheel. But when the tire rides over that part tire bulges and looked like the the bead might unseat in a turn. It held air overnight but I'm buying a new wheel. Don't feel like ****ign around with a repair.

This was the 10th Ave exit from i5 south. About 50 feet before the 163n and 10th split in the far right lane.

I drove back and was able to recover the cap and take pictures so I can make a caltrans claim... The cap costs almost as much as the wheel....

Cal trans will pay for damage caused by street potholes ? Always hear people on the news say their out of their pocket for car damage. Thanks for the report, that's one of the busiest offramps in San Diego. Was it a crater?

Caltrans has an obligation to maintain the roads. The way that it works is that they have to have been notified of the pothole and failed to fix it in order for them to be culpable. This pothole was missing all the paint around it and had Tire build up from all the times that it's been gone over so somebody has probably reported it before. I did a public records act request from Caltrans of all the maintenance request pertaining to that section of freeway so that way I can catch their insurance lying when they try to deny the claim.

Basically, Caltrans gets to self determine whether or not they've heard of the issue before and are responsible for the damage.... obvious conflict of interest
