I once had a rider who was originally from the UK. When I started the trip I noticed that the destination was in Scotland and the GPS told me there was no driveable route and that it was over 1,000 miles. She said "I guess I need to change my destination since you actually can't drive there." We had a nice laugh.

I hear ya. To each his or her own. My new ride number incentive this weekend pretty much dictated driving the city to just bang out the rides as quick as possible. Does anyone in the city tip their Uber driver? Lots of rides under my belt and maybe been tipped by one or two people in the city.
I've actually gotten about $10 to $15 a week in tips in ubering in city of Chicago.

Does anybody know what geographic area Uber's liability policy covers? You're certainly not required to go beyond any geographic limit of the policy.
Do liability insurance have geographic limits within the United States? I know that the price for insurance is effected by where you drive most often but I believe most car insurance is good for wherever you go in the United States.

I know that some commercial liability policies have geographic limits. Wouldn't want to be in an accident in St. Louis and find out that Uber's policy only covers a 100 mile radius of Chicago.
I could be wrong but I don't think Uber would set themselves up for those kind of liability issues. They actually go to other large cities on a regular basis.

I AM IN STL-- if someone wanted a ride to Chicago during the day Iwould jump at it.. We don't get surges down here during daylight hours - only at Bar Closing time.

Our rate is $1.20 a mile and 20 cent a minute so if the ride was conservatively 300 miles and 5 hours that's $360 for the mileage + 50-60 dollars --if you can get an extra 50-100 tip out of her it makes the rides very doable. In STL the max we make driving is 20-35 an hour max - so 40+ an hour for the 10 hour round trip is great money in STL.
We get zero incentives / boost / etc and barely any surges. So a long drive like that is BANK down here
I'm sure there aren't any Cardinal fans that want to be in Chicago these days. Cuck the Fardinals! :)

I remember that too. something about LA to New York.
Drive 5 states away, spend the night, and you couldn't accept the 2nd leg of the trip
Or the app ends rides after 8-12 hours for safety or something.
There are limitations.

I believe you, but does Uber allow you to accept a return trip from Indiana?
How far into Indiana have you ventured?
Yes, me they do. I live in Valpo which if you didn't know is in NWI.

Although, I do feel like there is some resentment among NWI drivers and dispatcher because I choose to be an Illinois driver that the NWI drivers get the better trips. The NWI dispatcher is continually cancelling trips sent to me by the computer.

Just got 2 pings in a row that were cut off. It's obvious that I'm the closest driver but the human dispatcher goes in and snatches them away immediately. Anyone think I should report this to higher ups in San Francisco?
