Seriously.

I've been noticing over the last 6 weeks or so that my tips are taking a nosedive on Lyft. 2 years ago, I was averaging 25-50% of pax would leave a tip. I would average 20-30% of fares for tip averages.

NOW.....I feel like I'm back driving for Uber again. :(

Only about 10% of pax have been tipping. Which averages to 5-10% of the fares.

Same great driver, ;) same nice clean cars, same free items via the Cargo box. :D

Let the speculations begin.

Hmmmm. I don't know if the answer is this simple or not....but I was just in the garage, making sure my Leaf was ready to go when I get a ping and realized that since the weather has been warming up in my area, I've been driving this car more lately. This car does NOT have the 'Tips are Appreciated' sign on the dash....like my Prius does. So, I just transferred the TIPS sign into my Leaf for today and see if that makes a difference. o_O If it does, I guess I need to get another one so I don't have to constantly transfer it in between cars all the time!

Interesting that your time frame corresponds almost exactly to when Lyft converted from commission to variable fee for their own payment, and started quoting a lot of flat fares. Although not the norm, most of us have examples now of Lyft keeping over 50% of the total paid by the pax. I am a 20% er, and I have always spot checked Lyft, and they have been dead on until the new TOS. Now, 9 out of 10 rides their platform fee is higher, sometimes way higher, then the old 20%. This is a price increase for the rider, and riders maybe responding with less tipping to compensate. Although it does appear that Lyft is cutting back on PT and maybe keeping the difference with their platform fee, in order to keep fare increases to a minimum. No matter how you cut it, driver income goes down.

Lyft pax here used to be roughly 50% ghetto, trailer trash. For whatever reasons over time the percentage has grown closer to 99.No further explanation needed why Lyft tips have dried up here.

Takes prepaid and debit.

Doesn't pre-charge much without destination input, I think it was $25 back in the day.

Upfronts are upfronted though, I'd presume
