start handing out your phone number to good regular customers now if you are not already doing so. They call you and you place yourself right out their door and you get the ping. Set up a merchant account so you can accept credit cards on your phone. This way when Uber leaves, those customers become your customers. This may not be realistic in the city, but it is very doable in the burbs as to your weekly business travelers.

St charles to ORD is 73.00 select. These folks travel every week. I have 3 calls a day, everyday. So if Uber left, I would add another $75.00 to my $250.00 a day I make now part time. I would not be in this game if I was uber x. I'm not a cab.

There not leaving and even if they do others will come in to set up shop.

I'm sure this is somewhat accurate...

The Chicago metropolitan area, often referred to as Chicagoland, has nearly 10 million people and is the third-largest in the U.S. Chicago has also been called a global architecture capital. ... Chicago has the third-largest gross metropolitan product in the United States-about $640 billion according to 2015 estimates.

I am surprised Uber has not caught onto you for repeat clients. You are being smart but sometimes they are stupid about it and go after you for repeat clients.

For select don't you need commercial insurance anyways? Why don't you just tell them to stop booking Uber select and call you?

If you could actually read, I have never spoke of taking money under the table. Everything goes thru uber including airport fees. I'm talking about positioning. Same way you look at pax app to see where other cars are. You mean to tell me that no pax has liked you enough to ask if there was any way to ask for you directly? Take that to the next level and when he needs service, you are right there as per prearranged call to you and then the ping from Uber.

It's not worth my while to carve out time to make a scheduled pickup that will probably be less than 10 dollars. By the way, I've had passengers order a car from my back seat and the order goes to a different driver.
Also, I don't get up early in the morning for anybody, even if it's an airport trip. Here in the city it can take some time to get from say, Hyde Park to Lincoln Park or even Printers' Row and that has to be factored in as part of the trip. It's hard to imagine a natural act that can be performed before 10:00 A.M anyway.
Wow, this learning how to read stuff is tricky.

Same here I don't take personal requests because folks expect it would be at uberx rates. Therefore I never or it's extremely rare for me to take an extracurricular ride, because it just isn't worth it.
