They actually mentioned UP in the article, intresting, anoying though that it's not mentioned why they do it, it unintentionally implies that uber drivers have good money to chase by opening with how he clears $300 a day and 230 after expenses.. right.
Most people do it because out running expenses chasing profit requires a hell of a lot of hours for the average driver who accepts all pings

I'm sure there are plenty of drivers who live in the IE or other cheaper areas and sleep in their cars to chase pings in LA.
In almost every Uber market, areas with a higher cost of living equal more entitled millennials who are Uber riders.

I belong to the $1.40 a mile uber X rides 3 years ago with no shorties
It was the era of the cool guy with a cool car giving a cool ride to a cool rider .
Look what happened since
Uber achieve its goal - a car in every corner,
Drivers who are willing to drive for peanuts , happy riders who pays cheap for transportation, and a million rides per hour which gets uber a million bucks per hour from collecting $1 safety fees...
We can only blame ourselves ,

The last lines from the driver really sum it up: “These labor advocates, they don’t know what it’s like to be a driver. They think we’re not being treated right, but I’m happy. If I didn’t like it, I would do something else.”
