What do you do when this comes up? More often, I see the city name without a street address or a street name without a number.

My first reaction is do not accept. The PAX must be an idiot who cannot figure out how to use the App. However, if it is nearby or slow then I might accept. Usually, I can find the PAX using a combination of the pin and a phone call. Otherwise, there's still a "no-show" cancellation fee.

Click Navigate. Usually they pin-dropped and the GPS knows where they are, but can't figure out what to call it.

I had a pax pin-drop from a cruise ship in port a few weeks ago. Trouble was, he was on deck gazing over at South Beach and the pin dropped into the middle of Government Cut. The address I got was "North Atlantic Ocean!"

There were tons of Ubers AT the port; I was just coming from a dropoff on one of the islands along the causeway. My drive distance was at least 5 miles, but I was closer to his pin-drop, so I got the ping. I went to the closest spot on the causeway to his pin, thinking it was someone with car trouble -- no pax. I called the pax and he told me what ship he was on. Picked him up, drove him to an oceanside hotel in Pompano Beach and made about $50 + tip.

And all because of a wacky pin-drop. I took the money anyway.

I would love to see how one of the self driving cars handle that pickup. LOL

Simple.

The autonomous cars will be programmed to drive as close to the pin-drop as they can get. (I got an "You have arrived!" on the causeway about 400 yards from the ship.) They will wait 5 minutes, and cancel "No Show" and collect the cancellation fee.

The only difference will be that Uber will keep all of the cancellation fee.
