What's more annoying than a passenger who assumes I love Uber?

Well, I'll probably get a lot of flak for this, but I actually do enjoy driving for Uber. But I'm a full-time teacher, and I do this just a few nights per week.

During the summers, I spend all day with my own children. During the school year, I spend all day with other people's children. After 14 years of marriage, my wife and I have gotten into a routine that doesn't require much communication to make things run smoothly. We don't have to ask each other how our days were... We know how our days were, because they have been basically the same for years now.

For a guy like me, it's just nice to talk to other adults for a change. People who I would never really get a chance to interact with otherwise.

I make about $100 per weekend night in Chicago, driving from about 7pm until midnight. I usually squeeze in about ten rides each night.

But it's not really about the money for me (although I can see how full-time drivers would hate it). I know this will sound cheesy, but I see it as kind of like fishing. I turn on the app and wait for a "bite". And every PAX is a different experience. So far, they've all been positive experiences.
