Picked up this lady and her friend. They were both nice. Decent conversation.2mile trip. As they were getting out of the car, her newbie friend asked so thats it?? And swear to god guys, this lady said her " Ya, thats it, it goes through your card online, tips, everythings included". Wish i could give her 1 star 20 times till her rating says" Better start tipping B***"

It's an honest mistake by few pax. I've had some pax tell me that he set a 20% tip online, which is for Uber Taxi.

But a majority would set that sucker to zero

Put up a tip sign. Your rating won't go down. I have one and I'm at 4.86. Weekly I'm at a 4.9 or 5. I use the tips for gas and meals.

Inform them that tip is only included on the UberTaxi option. If your worried about her rating you a 1 star, head back to the inner loop and do 4 more 2 mile trips.

As an Uber driver not only do you have to drive these sheep, unfortunately you also have to educate them on this issue quite a bit. Trebor is correct. When they initially sign up to ride there is an option to add a percentage as a tip but this applies only to UberTaxi platform. This is a sneaky way that Uber deceives pax into thinking that we are being tipped on every ride. If a pax asks about tips give them the standard tips are not included but greatly appreciated. Hopefully they will understand it better and may start tipping on future rides.

Why would they use UberTaxi when there is UberX, i dont get it. Uber played and nailed this confusion creating part really good. Kmiles, hows water bottles and stuffs working for you? I hope its helping

Customize it. I put a little Hello Kitty plush doll next to the sign and it does help in a non-aggressive way

In that situation I would let them just go on. But if that happen during the trip; educate.
I use to get asked how I like Uber or something to open up to educate. If you don't educate the pax then you harm yourself in the long run. Many pax I had started to tip and if they didn't I got 5 stars do to how I talked about Uber.
Using some sugar with truth goes along way.

I just had a lady on Lyft a few days ago who used to do uber more in the past she'd paid enough attention to get that "tip included" message back in the day, but when I was the one explaining why they "backed away from that statement" in recent years, she was pretty ticked - "I've been screwing all my uber drivers!"
I agree I wouldn't bother probably when they're basically already out, otherwise yes every time pax shows interest in tip, make sure they've got the facts, least with the facts come a chance of tips.
