They told several of us that they'd be doing this. They're checking the insurance, registration, drivers license, checking cars for excessive damage, making sure you wear closed-toed shoes (I know, odd...) among other things. There are a lot of regulations to driving on airport property.

I've had zero success getting rides at IND.

I'm a bit impatient, but in all my time sitting in the limo lot, I've never seen a single Uber vehicle depart the lot.

The last time I dropped off there, I got an auto-text from Uber saying that demand at IND was high and that I would be only 7th in the Uber line. But after sitting in the lot for a few minutes, again, I never saw a car leave the lot.

Check flight arrivals online...I get tons of requests there but you light have to wait more than a few minutes...but it's usually worth it. If there are very few cars in the lot you also get a chance of getting request before you get to the limo lot.

All I'm saying is that the people that never see cars leave must be leaving after two or three minutes and if there are a decent number of flights coming in X is usually the first to get requests.

I usually don't make a special trip to the airport but if you get a drop off it's worth sticking around for at least 30 minutes

Ok so I dropped off a pax at the airport this morning 2.0 surge yes! As I was leaving the departures terminal I got a ping for the ground transportation center. I happily accepted it. I went over to the rider app and saw that there were 4 cars waiting in the limo lot. So how did I get the request when I didn't wait at all? Is it because I was the closest? If that's the case I'm waiting in the ground transportation center every time I drop off.

I know it's not. I'm definitely gonna wait at the ground transportation center next time and see what happens.
A couple of things can cause this. Are you UberX? It's possible that the other drivers in the lot were not running X, but just Select or Lux. They also could have not been online. OR....it could have been a glitch.

I can tell you from a lot of experience, you will not receive Uber requests sitting in ground transportation. It's definitely a queue system when it's all working properly.

That said, if you wait in ground transportation, you will be kicked off the grounds and potentially permanently banned from picking up at the airport. Lyft is still based on proximity so some drivers were waiting in GTC for Lyft rides and airport has been cracking down hard.

Last week they had cop cars searching and inspecting each Uber/Lyft car and started doing sweeps of GTC and kicking out any Lyft drivers waiting there.

In any case, waiting for Uber rides there is entirely pointless. The only way you'd get a request outside of the Limo Lot for GTC is if no UberX cars are online in the Limo Lot.

Hi Kev! Every ping I've ever gotten at IND was after a drop off and in just enough time to "Return to Terminal." Drive through the Ground Transportation area and you will see you kinda have to be able to pass for a limo or security will run you away.

Yes I'm uber x and there were 4 uber x cars in the lot. Must of been a glitch.

When you say "limo lot", do you mean cell phone lot? Or is there a different place to sit and wait? by the way, I also dropped off at the airport once and was pinged just as I left the terminal and was able to Return to Terminal to pick up.

I just this morning did my first airport pickup to try it out. I checked arrivals, got there about a half hour early, and sure enough, 20 minutes after a big group of arrivals was scheduled, got a ping.

The limo lot isn't the cell lot. You go down the service road, past the shell station, then take a left at the intersection. It's all labeled, but I pulled it up on google maps last night just to have a visual reference. Supposedly, you only get pings from the limo lot, first in first out.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'm new and I've only dropped off at the airport three times. First time I drove to the cell phone lot and waited about 15 minutes. I'm impatient so I left and drove back downtown. The second time I dropped the guy off and as I pulled away from the curb, I got a ping for someone at Ground Transportation. the last time was last Friday. I drove around the circle and went thru GT three times hoping for a ping but nothing happened so I finally left. Also, I saw a few people parked along the left side with Phones in holders like mine so I assume they are Uber or Lyft drivers. I'm guessing they'll get ran out of there if caught.
