Since the outset of the coronavirus pandemic, experts have forcefully stressed the importance of social distancing to mitigate the spread of the virus. A distance of at least 8 feet is recommended, according to some estimates. But what does social distancing mean to a RIDESHARE driver? My experience tells me nothing. I've taken precautions to limit my exposure. However, riders in my car will always be in close proximity in a closed environment. I've had riders who sneeze, cough etc. You can only do so much!! Yet for many of us, we don't have the financial luxury to stay home. So we face the risk. Government must act!!!

Does your rider has the right to breath, sneeze or cough in that tight space?
My pax does not have no rights . He has "allowances" meaning only what I allow them to do.
Now , mine is a little bigger space , I may have 4ft to the back seat , but still risk like you clearly pointed .

I am with you , on all your concerns .I just don't have a answer that will give us comfort.
YES , we have a shitty deal this days driving . I wish all of us , get thru.

I just think back to how attractive women found me in high school and college Andi get a pretty good goddamn idea about social distancing. It wasn't until I found financial success as an Uber driver that women started to find me viable as a sex partner.

I have a minivan and removed the middle seats. I also have automatic doors. So I send a text before I arrive with instructions- touch nothing, go to the back, etc. Once in, I carefully explain the back windows and side windows will be open to keep fresh air circulating, but the heat is pumped to the max. I keep my eyes forward and as much space between them.and myself and also keep my front windows open. It's the best I can do.

I won't take more than three people. That's as many seats are available in the back row. If they need more, order another uber or cancel.

Yes. I don't need their filthy, grubby paws contaminating my car any more than it is. Doors are automatic, windows are automatic. They're free to buckle up, though. I'll spray after. But that's about it.

As they enter the car, I also remind them to roll to the back and avoid touching anything as well. My car. My rules.

Sounds great K. Do you also wipe down your vehicle after each drop off? That may also help. I deliver for Uber and my concern is are the restaurant employees following health department proper procedures. I know they should but I also know some don't. I make certain my vehicle is sanitized everywhere I touch and I use disposable gloves. I will also leave the food on their porch.

I was driving in Bethesda yesterday and pulled up at a red light with other cars. Three Junior high aged young girls were walking next to each other. The driver of one car yelled to them "Socially Separate damnit.". Another yelled something to the effect that they don't respect anyone. Scared the shit out of them. They separated at that point.

It's a new era

I spray and then every few times a week, I do a thorough wipe down. I have the cleaning gloves that I keep under my seat with my wet wipes.

Uber / Lyft are 100 % #corona virus spreaders. The Virus can survive on surfaces ( I.e car seats and doors ) for at least 48 hours. It is also in the air you are breathing inside the car.
