I have been doing the Chippewa Allen grind pretty lately, But I get a lot of passengers that want to go in the drive thru. How does everyone else handle this? I find that its a time suck and I don't really get much boost in fare.

It's generally not worth it pay wise because per minute pay is awful. I've been asked 3 times. Once the place they wanted to go was closed and they said never mind. Have done a Tim Hortons and Taco Bell run. The timmy chick was a **** so I 3 starred her so I don't get paired with her again. I was seething on the TB run cuz the staff are complete morons and it took 20 minutes to get out. Only rated them 4 because they were generally aware they were being a PITA, thanked and apologized to me numerous times and left a tip after the ride.

Convenience stores are not terrible because as long as it's not busy inside, the pax can make it in and out in around 2-3 minutes. I've gotten a good amount of tips so I find those runs easier to tolerate.

I will stop for convenience stores but not drive thru. I tell them that they never added the stop onto their fare so it is not included with their upfront pricing. If they get mouthy, I offer to drop them off at wherever they like and then point out the dashcam and how the footage will be sent to Uber. I'll one star them if they continue and will file a complaint with Uber when the ride is over...even offer to send in the dashcam footage if needed.

I actually made an exception to this a couple of weeks ago...pickup at the Curtiss Hotel, headed to East Amherst, XL and a 1.3x surge and it was 1230am...figured it was East amherst, there might be a good tip involved plus 1am to 2am is usually slow...hit the Mighty Taco on Sheridan, no one ahead of us in line, guy left me $5 in cash then a 20% tip in app. Made roughly $41 in 45 minutes....that was perfect storm and the only exception Id make.

Don't mean to hijack a thread but are there any drivers here that will admit to accepting uber eats request? I did 2 u.e and said never again it's been off ever since.

I will stop as long as there's not a long line. The three times I have been asked to stop I did and got a nice tip out of the deal. I just make them order and pay out the back window. I do not want to touch a pax credit card, money or food.

Every time the app updates, it spontaneously appears on my account again. Then I fight with customer service about it as they tell me they can't remove it...I tell them I will ignore every UE ping then it mysteriously disappears...until the next app update....then repeat.

Once, just once.

Once to test it out. Ignored several requests from places like McDonalds because I knew there would be no tip. Took one from Sticky Lips (BBQ joint for you Buffalo drivers) figuring maybe with someplace that wasn't fast food I could get a tip. Got there and street parking in front was full so had to park in the lot behind and walk around in the cold. Get inside and am treated by either the manager or owner. Upon telling the owner I'm there for UE he b****es at me saying that I shouldn't be there yet, that they only confirmed they received the order not that it's ready and that we keep showing up to soon. It's like dude I get the request and it tells me to drive here, take the rest up with Uber. Fortunately the food was ready so I didn't have to wait. It was only then though I found out I was going to the U of R. So much for that tip. Fortunately the girl was on the curb when I pulled up. Only made about $5.50, about $2 less than the same trip on UberX only with more hassle and more time spent. NEVER AGAIN!

Now when I get a UE request I laugh and shake my head while I immediately hit No Thanks!

Uber needs to build into the change destination feature a drive-thru or "stop" option, and each stop results in a couple extra bucks. Also drivers should be able to specify whether they accept those, and when the passenger orders the ride they can indicate whether it will include stops, thus filtering out drivers who don't want to do it.

The current approach instead has drivers bend over a barrel for the pax or accept a 1 star rating as punishment for denying the pax's bidding. No taxi driver in the country, for good reason, would stop at drive through without charging accordingly (the per minute is trivial).

I usually go to drive through.

I haven't done the drive thru...YET...but recently a call that I got in NT(for a couple that was heading to a store for some refreshing adult beverages...;))asked if, on the way back, they could stop at Burger King to get dinner. They gave $5 in cash(on top of what they were paying to begin with)and even went to the trouble of asking if I'd like anything to eat as well; I politely declined as I was heading home after that call.

I've done a few drive thru and store runs I always decline food advances lol. I get a tip each time the store runs tho it seems like no matter if I say no or not I the pax always buys me some type of food and tells me that I'm going to need to eat sometime today and now I don't have to buy it. Quick note they're always women lol. In Fat Bastards words " I'm dead sexy"

I'm originally from western Ontario county. I was curious how y'all are making out now that there's UBER in western Upstate New York. I don't know what rates y'all get up there but here's what we get @ the Jersey Shore for Uber X:

UberX
Base Fare: $2.40
Per Minute: $0.16
Per Mile: $1.70
Cancellation Fee: $5
Service Fee: $1.60

I've been Ubering since late in the summer of 2015, hence I get 80% of revenue, at least I did before advent of upfront pricing in 2017.

My policy on "pit-stops" during a trip has been NO STOPS, unless the trip is at least 20 miles or it is unusually dead. NO DRIVE-THRU. They have to go inside themselves. I don't use drive-thru myself, I always park and go in. You think I'm going to allow it from PAX?

A few months ago here in Jersey, Uber made it an option in the PAX app to add 2 stops reaching before final destination. The stops are to be no longer than three minutes. We have to make stops if they're added in this fashion and I abide to this new feature. That is if they're back in the car in three minutes. If not, I end the trip and head off in search of another trip...

A while back I picked up 5 drunks after a concert at RiverWorks on a 5X surge who wanted to go to Allentown bars. Normally about $8-9 to me. Then, they asked if I could make a stop at the Seneca Casino so they could put down a $20 Blackjack bet and get some smokes. I said no problem. They were inside about 5 minutes or so, and didn't win.

In any event, they were happy that I stopped for them. My fare ended up being like $86.00, and they gave me $20.00 cash, and $5 tip to boot on the app.

Some drunks are great passengers and even tip nicely!

5x XL Surge....Ill wait as long as you long as you want....lol. $1.60+ per minute is a big difference than 15.5 cents.

The only time I get the request is about 3am to hit a Jack in the Box drive through. After getting stuck (literally, can't get out) twice for 30-60 minutes during my busiest hours - I now tell them I will get in that line for $40 cash upfront.

I have repeatedly been taken up on that offer.

Back in December I arrived to a Christmas Eve party on a LUX to pick up the pax. Pax then hands me a $50 dollar bill and tells me to go get him a pack of Marlboro Lights and keep the change. I went to the gas station which was a block away. Got off paid $7.50 for the pack and delivered back to him. The ride paid me the minimum plus the tip.
