So the other day the weirdest thing happened while I was anting about:

1) I am 100% sure I wasn't within the SNA (John Wayne) airport geofence area (but I was within 10 minutes of the airport), and I got a ping for an airport pickup. It was a 2.3x surge, so I decided what the hey... and took it.

2) On my way to the airport pickup, while waiting for a light to turn, Uber prompts me that they've matched me with a closer pickup and didn't give me the choice to accept/switch. This pickup wasn't surging and it was some low-rated PAX going around the corner to a bar.

I'm mainly confused because Uber decided to switch passengers on me... what could've been my surging unicorn for the evening ended up getting switched out to some frat bro too lazy to walk 2 blocks.

What gives Fuber?

I'd be upset about no surge fare. I've had same happen. I don't think there is a way to deny the change.

I hate that more than anything else on the platform. Especially when I'm meticulously hunting for airport runs in the wee hours.

The other day I had this happen just as I was getting on a bridge to pickup my original pax. The route to the new pax had me NOT going on that bridge but there was nothing I could do at that point so it actually ended up taking Longer for me to get to the new pax, who was of course just someone going home from a late shift 2 miles away.

That's the kinda makes me want to blast my phone through the windshield and call it quits.

Happened to me, too. Had a 4.9 pickup switched to a 4.5 who turned out to be an unaccompanied minor. I canceled him, then he tries to ping me back a minute later.

Taken off a profitable ride with a highly rated pax
Dumped on a 4.5 pax
Canceled the ride
Same pax dings my acceptance rate because I forgot to go offline and that after I reported fraudulent use of the account

That's the perfecta of suck there.

I accept a 4.9 a bits away late at night .. I get switched to a 4.6 a bit closer. Yea, that ahole had an open container and rated me 1*. Learned my lesson, I cancel any switches where the pax rating goes down.

Is lyft doing this? I've had this happen a few times and it sounds similar. I'm headed to a pax, then it says, "new lyft line pickup added", and the gps recalculates and takes me to someone else. The original pickup? Vanished into the ether. This has happened even when the original pax was regular Lyft, not Line. I always just cancel.

Uber got more games than the Olympics...lol, The hell if I'm cancelling a decent surge ride for a different rider with a lower rating and no surge...Not gonna happen.
You don't get a choice !
It just " DISAPPEARS" and is replaced with garbage !
No choice.
And it ALWAYS happens after you've wasted time & gas heading towards the first location !

If you cancel the change to a closer rider does it revert to the original ride or do you just start waiting for the next ping? I have it happen SEVERAL times. If memory serves correctly I recall one or two of them were XL that I lost.

Seriously, we wouldn't have accepted the original ping if we didn't want it. Leave well enough alone! A "closer rider" isn't always closer if you are going the opposite direction in rush hour traffic & one-way streets! There should be an "opt out" for this ridiculous option.

If you cancel the "switch", I'm pretty sure you'll just have to wait for another ping to come in. And most likely it'll be the joker you just cancelled on.

I hope everyone is making a screen shot of the acceptance ping screen and pax info screen with the surge rate, and the rematched screen with new pax info. And if the rematched ride surge is LOWER and you complete the rematched trip, write in to Uber for a FARE ADJUSTMENT for the HIGHER surge rate of the primary ride. If the CSR gives you BS, send in a screenshot of Uber's policy on rematched rides, and DEMAND to be paid at the HIGHER surge rate.

Personally, I've never been rematched with a new ride request. I'm usually the one getting bumped off a request because another driver became closer to my rider.
