I've looked over McConnell's proposed legislation. If you have less than $2,500 in earned income, you will not only not receive the $1200 check promised taxpayers, you won't receive anything!

With the mileage deduction, I doubt many drivers show earned income of $2,500. If you don't, you don't get anything. Of course, if you have W-2 income, you'll get a check (but if you have no tax liability in 2020, you're screwed).

I urge you all to write your congressperson (if they are not Republicans (they are the ones that wrote this garbage legislation)). I wrote mine. Thinking of bringing this to the media's attention tomorrow. Someone might be interested in writing a story about it.

I was assuming they meant from last year? As in the taxes you'd be filing this year.

If you didn't make $2500 last year, ruuuun!

I called my local news this morning and asked that they do a story on full-time R/S and other people who’re self-employed who show their “business” at a loss or little profit who won’t get the stimulus. I explained how the deductions, like mileage, bring our income way down.

Guy at the news said he hasn’t received any calls from drivers about this, until me. Please everyone call your local news, post on fb or wherever. Get the word out!!!!

Edited:

I also left a message with one of my State Senators. Please all who do this F/T call your Senators and new stations.

I'd wait for the final draft to come out.

However, that could be quite a while. Don't count on anything coming. But if it comes, then consider it a pleasant surprise.

I'm treating it like I do with bonuses from my current company. You never know how much you're going to get, or if you'll get anything at all. Therefore, never rely on it. It's just icing on the cake if you get anything.

Good advice!

If only Clark Griswald would have listened!

Idt you should be making assumptions about other people's incomes
Pretty obvious to me you are in a
really crappy market and have
no idea what you are talking about....

And that's why you drive for Uber. Obviously you don't have the cerebral capacity to understand simple math. Let me guess: you are a devout Trump acolyte.

Uber on ant. You'll learn the hard way.

The simple math is I took 84k in
cash from rideshare last year.
It looks like all you have
in your head is peanuts....

Is that over the poverty line in Chicago?

Took in? How much did you net Mr. Buffett? How many 80 hour weeks did you put in?

Make sure you tell your grandkids how you contributed to society in such an important way.

And enjoy your forced vacation this year. Pretty sure you won't be grossing $84k this year.

They should send everyone who filed a tax return in 2018 a check. Everyone! When we file taxes for 2020, they can claw back the money paid out to people who made too much money to qualify.

That way we ensure people can eat and those who don't need the money can help friends and family or stimulate the economy with the extra spending.

This isn't hard.

Guaranteed next year the allowable deductions will go through a major rewrite.
You think calling Uber/Lyft support is an exercise in futility. You ain't seen nothing like someone from congress who ain't getting tax.
