Hi Everyone,

Feedback from Uber X drivers Required

1. Are you guys offering any Water and Mints ?
2. Have you guys noticed that those on 20 % commissions having a lot of short trips worth only $ 6 - 15

I have worked 4 h 22 min last night for 14 trips for only $ 108.50 Net from Uber Fees Inc $ 1.45 toll and +4.52 surge. Is that good, after calculations, removing the GST, Fuel and Associated car Expenses, i came up with $ 18 an hour excluding Depreciation of the car and tax on total income at end of the year.. So in reality, are we working for < $ 15 an hour in low peak days / hours. Am not an expert in maths, but i know 1+1 = 2 . I would love to have feedback from FT drivers to know exactly whats their true $ per hour after all Expenses including Depreciation, GST, Associated car expenses, etc .

Now, with the water and mints thing. it has come to my attention that a lot of drivers are demanding water. One last night asked me for water and funny thing i picked him up from his house and was still at the front of his gate when he requested the water, and on top his trip was < $ 10. Out of all my trips with average $ 6 to $ 16 yesterday, 50 % of the pax asked me for water. I think that is ridiculous, I would understand if i was Uber black , but that kind of expectations for X drivers is a JOKE. Imagine yourself, you pick up 4 pax for a $ 8 trip and all 4 asking a bottle of water. $ 8 , less $ 4 , less fuel, less tax, less gst = hahah , i let you guess, highly likely you would be making loss on that .

Please share your views re Water , Mints and Short trips, would love to have the views from X drivers in Melbourne.

cheers

Pretty crap. Not even $15 an hour.
so, two questions in this mythology thing.

why did u continue if its only $15 a hour (maybe bills or paying something off)

if $15 is so bad, then as many others suggested why not a real job filling shelves or whatever, from what I see, you have $1500 net in your bank account, not many ppl make that even on 2 full time jobs??

only asking, not casting aspersions, but you did 99 hrs for a reason. and complain its $15 a hour. that's all. thank you

Doing a hundred hours a week is ridiculous. That's like four days without a break. What are you doing, sleeping in your car?

Driving in Melbourne must be crap.

Bottled water shouldn't be anywhere near a dollar a bottle. I go to Costco, get a slab of thirty for six dollars. Occasionally they are on special for five. Hunt around, Woollies or other outlets, you can find comparable prices. I go through a slab a month, so that's like 20c a day, and I offer every passenger water. And Minties.

I put Costco (Kirkland) water in the door pockets. Costs $15c a bottle with CRV. Not many take it anyway. I would never put a brand in like Crystal Geyser. Or Sam's club own brand, had that once in a Vegas Uber and it was revolting, I don't want to annoy the babies needlessly. I also put Costco granola bars there, same price 15c each. I used to sit them in relatively presentable plastic beakers and they went fairly quickly, now I have them in paper coffee cups and hardly anyone takes them. Presentation matters!

Not complaining at all, just putting it out there so other people don't fall for the hype.. and can workout if it's worth doing it full time.

And the actual earnings is not $1500 when all costs are accounted for.

  1. Yes I am offering Water and Mints. I stopped for a while and saw my ratings go down to 4.77 in no time. It's back to 4.81 since I started water and mints. Not to mention I agree with everything they say and tell every Asian their English is like Aussies. ;)
  2. I am Mr 25% and I don't get any special deal from Uber. If Uber makes any exceptions at all, I would say it will have to be for the drivers with highest acceptance rate and/or lowest cancellation rates.
  3. Most of my trips are short ones. I would say most drivers will agree to that. I do every job carries upto 15 minutes pick time.
  4. Some of my riders ask for water and/or mint. In most cases I offer them - starting with mint because mints are cheaper.
  5. It's all luck! :)

My rating has always been the same, been on since auagust. I have never provided water or mint and never will for $10 an hour. Good luck.
