Oh wow thats huge! Already 40 notices sent out o_O

Theres no way Uber can have your back on this one, unless they want to supply registered cars for drivers to use. Possibly why they withdrew the pending charges, had better plans.

I would spread the word promptly, what drivers can afford to have their vehicle rego suspended? risk affecting your family and other work commitments

Yes this is big news and Uber needs to take some fast action I have already emailed their support letting them know I will not drive. At least this will bring the issue to a head. But Ubers position will probably be that there are always more drives and there will be plenty of trips for those willing to take the risk. But for many of us the risk of having the rego suspended is real and will immediately stop us from driving. I hope this at least brings it to a head and it resolved one way or another.

You know Uber will take a wait and see approach just like they did with the GST deadline. The more drivers that email Uber saying they've stopped driving (actually stop) you may find out their next move sooner, if any.

Since they already have these drivers addresses, wouldn't be hard for them to camp out near their homes to make an example of them.

If 40 drivers can get canceled rego notices and no media coverage on any of the individuals involved, I'm going to confidently say there is a small amount drivers out there that have accumulated infridgment fines for Uber activity but have yet to be paid on there behalf.

Uber will stay quiet on this one, hoping anyone that doesn't know will just keeping Ubering on

That is a huge disincentive to continue...
Huge.
On the ABC. Radio this morning they said that these drivers were "nabbed" by a covert operation.
With the current review underway and the an outcome from that forthcoming, I'd have thought that the RMS could have held the current status quo till then..
Am going to switch off and head to Concord for a definitive answer from Uber.

I'm furiously going over all of my trips in my history to see if there were any suspicious riders. I just hope they don't work weekend nights!

Remember the RMS made a statement on 31/7/15 stating that they'll be out there ramping up compliance activities.
http://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/ride-share-drivers-targeted-compliance-operations

This was after their embarrassing loss in the courts
http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/charges-d...arns-of-campaign-to-come-20150730-ginzq5.html

"A Transport for NSW spokesman would not explain the issues with the prosecution. "To ensure future prosecutions are not jeopardised we cannot comment further," the spokesman said."

Was this announcement about the registration cancellations what the RMS had in mind? Uber can't touch the RMS with registration issues, they have all the power to grant or take away registrations.

“If drivers continue to offer illegal ride-sharing services, they will continue to risk registration suspensions and fines,” he said.

This "Covert Operation" as stated on 702 Radio this morning will be ongoing.
The suspensions are for 3 months.

Peter G can I plz suggest you change the heading to something like "40 registration suspension notices against Uber drivers in NSW".
Need to get attention on this to the drivers.

I would guess the Airport would of been a good stakeout as well as the Star City.
