Reading these guidlines it looks like your best bet is to catch the virus and run like Forrest Gump to the doctor asap.Only way to continue is to get the virus once the strip reopens
What does any of this have to do with California? This is a federal pandemic Unemployment paid for by the feds for up to 39 weeks. The extra 600 only goes to July 31st.
It also pays the states for any extra labor and expansion costs incurred for setting it all up and maintaining it.
Once you qualify, you are qualified until you find work or your work picks up.
Will we get 39 weeks. Not a chance. Once the job search requirement is up, every taxi and other transportation company in town will fill up and stay full as rideshare drivers are forced to jump ship until uber becomes worth it again.

That's the thing. What qualifies as when work is viable again as a rideshare driver in Las Vegas? There is no definitive answer. The arguments are good, but it's not guaranteed. There are still people taking rides and or deliveries now. It hasn't dried up completely. Different than a stripper for example who has no work opportunity.

All I’m saying is, don’t count on it lasting a long time. It’s not like we work for a casino or a strip club. We will be up and running quicker and lose our access to unemployment faster than them

It's nice taking a little break from driving but I'm not expecting it to last very long before everything opens back up. Planning on driving back full time in May until I can find something else part time to supplement it and get away from depending full time on rideshare

Basically you are denied by the state of Nevada but forced into it by the PUA law. Once the PUA law goes away (by reasons listed above) the state takes over and denial of benefits is granted since this state doesn't allow uber drivers to collect.
Just remember that guys when you go back driving. When the second wave of this virus hits, will Uber be able to help us? Did they pay us for weeks like the Casinos have for their workers? Extend our benefits?

It's the way the law is written. I didn't write it. Like all laws, it's up for interpretation. There is no "your benefits end when the strip opens" section.
With all the negative in this sub, I leaned all the way positive in my interpretation. Sorry if I came off as entitled. I definitely didn't want my business dried up and life paused by a state order.

I’m sure I will see all (or most) of you back on the road sometime in May when things open back up and we no longer get or qualify for UI anymore

Back to normal is more than 2x the unemployment. I'll work the second it's there.
If the biz just isn't there in the end once things open up, the monthly unemployment state offers if any isn't enough to carry most people anyway.
Living on under 2k a month here in vegas? Bottom of the barrel. Might as well end it anyway your not having any fun.

Think about all the unemployed and desperate around the country who will think the same as all the RS drivers we have now did. "Hey I'll just move to vegas and do Uber, It's probably great." On top of thousands of new drivers it will be the wild wild west of idiocy at the pick up and drop off areas all over again just like when the first wave came from California. Now they will be coming from every state.

I find it funny that Bums out on Maryland &Twain are alot making alot more than drivers and strippers right now. God help us all 😂 😂 😂I agree with you 100%.I hope everybody gets covered and has food to put on the table for their family.That we both agree on bro.
UBER DRIVERS GOT THE SMACKDOWN.And these fools want to have it all over again.Like a girlfriend in a abusive relationship that keeps going back for another beating.Cabbies are laughing at you fools.Go get a real job or get in the cab again.Either way dont be a dam fool again after you've seen where you are in the pecking order.
