I am wanting to start this process, insurance requirement is pending, which is my obvious first step. Anyone here in Lee County obtained the VFH Permit yet? Just curious about red tape. Thanx.

I'm not sure if we really need one. Uber has the county under a contract of some kind to be able to operate here. As for the insurance, they underwrite while a rider is active with the driver, but no other time. I can't imagine they really check the phone/app as they would need a warrant or consent to do so.

Moved down from CT last September. Just got permits done today. Not real difficult. Going to RSW to get the port authority permit this week and I'm set.
Got the cert of liability through State Farm. So changed my personal to them and got the cert on top of that.
Did about 800+ Rides (average about $550/wk) in three and a half months in ct last year so I know the long hours of no hits... I'll see what happens here. I do uberx.

I made $5 yesterday 6 hours online 1 ride. I made zero I mean $5 was the revenue for it from leaving home, and getting to the ride and then finding it's a trailer park with a gated entrance, but you cant' go in that way, and calling the people and they dont' know where they are because they are visiting people who they say are not home so they can't tell me where the entrance is. I see a someone in the neighborhood, they tell me the name of the place and where the main gate it.

It's like a mile and a half around a whole neighborhood to get there on 41. I get to the gate she say code is 820 whatever doesn't sound right, never heard of a 3 digit gate code. I find the gate and there is a tow truck trying to get in so I cant get in, but a lady comes and lets me thru because I guess the tow truck was for her and it had to back up and go thru the residents gate with her card.

So I go to the pickup the address is a range, i call them and they say 820 oh, that was the gate code, it beeps the house and they let you in. they put the wrong address by dropping the pin so i still can't find them but i" m on the phone and find them.

So I ask them if they know the best way or shoudl I use the nav. they say use nav, we go out the back way. they say I didn't know this was here. So I'm thinking why didn't they tell me where the main gate was if they came in that way.

So I'm taking them home and they say can you drop us off at Publix instead. sure. I"m following her directions and she starts drinking water and forgets to tell me a turn so I have to correct and almost Uturn. So then I drop off and don' t know where I am.

I turn on google maps to get home. I'm driving home and I get a text and a ping and my phone goes crazy and I cant accept the ping and it's rining non stop. Shut the phone off now the phone is F'd up had to restart it twice and turn it off and on to get it to work.

So I get home wait for more rides and nothing. Then I get a ping but its' the old ping screen with the circle so I don't accept it because something is odd and I can't tell how far away it is.

So I drove 17 miles to do a $5 ride yesterday. Good luck.

Is this to be able to pick up at RSW? from what I understand the new legislation in July will let Uber pick up anywhere in the state including airports.

Haha, jokes on me for laying out permit costs. ... yes you are right. That should be interesting. RSW will be jammed with drivers.

Read below... you may want to hold off on permit fees until July 1st. Then there shouldn't be any.

SMH Lee239, what a waste. Sounds like my fiasco. I had fun with the micromanagement driving feature last night. Banged my phone a few times during some pax. Got up today to find uber critiquing me on my multiple poor braking episodes during trips.

Only been with Uber for two yrs but, have not been required to get one.
