Using your own car on AL exec, Excel exec or similar

Has anyone here have any experience with the above please?
Can you work both simultaneously?
Or another firm I haven’t considered?

Currently I work Friday and Saturday night for my local office in the burbs which is fine but I’m not getting enough time in London to help me with my knowledge studies.

I want flexible part time whole of London based work. I won’t drive for Uber so I’m thinking that only really leaves exec if I want to cover all of London.
My existing car will be too old to take into town from next April, plus it’s done 250k miles so I’m gonna change it anyway and working in town will really help.

I’ve driven for AL before but in their car so I know when renting you have to do full time so I’m weighing my options to go exec with my own car to keep the flexibility.

Thoughts?

Why not find an office in central and work for them?

Most are not big enough to cover all areas regularly and also my existing car will be too old soon anyway.

Plus with the small ones it's bound to be a bit of a mine field. I guess you'd have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince.
Uber is for perfect for what you need. It will take you all over London in all different directions and start points.

Use uber as they have used thousands of drivers, pass the k faster.

Don't worry about what other people think.

And most of all, don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I get what you're saying as Ive driven for them in the past, and I will give it some thought but I feel there are just too many negatives associated with them.
The algorithm, low rates, the worst passengers in London, etc etc.

If I'm gonna upgrade my car anyway going exec is not really too much difference.

Good job you should be ready to be taxi driver when the first waymo is here.

AddLee want set shift times with Owner drivers.

Mileage rates are not great and you will get run for work they need you to.

AddLee mileage is straight line from middle of postcode to middle of postcode, not the actual mileage you travel.

And you don't get paid for every minute you are POB.

So if you get stuck in traffic you earn more with Uber and less ar AddLee.

Wheely I believe have a similar pricing structure (and App) to Uber.

But Wheely rates are worse than Uber.

From memory an S Class on Wheely gets rates closer to UberExec

Excel again are an old school Account firm.

When I was offered a job there back in 2013 the mileage rate was something crazy like £1:80 a mile(for a Jaguar XJL/S Class)

A bike is easier as you can stop nearly anywhere and push your bike.
Doing Full Time Mini Cab back in the 90's then getting on a bike was tough for me back then.
I dropped out.

Good luck, I have always had huge respect for those that have completed the knowledge.

Not possibleto do uber and Knowldge on same time? Didn't you work for uber while doing the k?

Most local offices are only surviving because they are doing airports and stations at a silly cheap prices.the pax only use them because they can pre book and get a set fare. Oh, and because they don't want to go on motorways in a uber lol

I've never attempted the k but logic is logic, most of us can go anywhere in London from our home address N S E W
And that's the same as a local office, same starting point.

But what you really need is different starting points and that's what uber gives you. Even if you are not doing a run you can still go over the points you pass.

Does the opp work days/nights is excec on days at weekends the way to go?

Anyway, I base my comments on my own experience. I've been a driver for over 30 years. And if you work for one company the work get repetitive and you stop learning. So if the opp does work for a local office change offices often and move areas.

Ps I've learned more of London with uber than I have with any other company I've worked for.

Before I start it not personal or been rude just fact and my experience

You said thousand of drivers  don't agree with that

Yes worked for uber in beginning when i was on knowledge but never did both in same time not possible work is work and study is study can't mix

Knowldge it very complex and hard

your giving advice in knowledge but have no idea
70% of applicants on Knowldge gave up coz they think is super easy but is not
Do really think just passing point without collecting all information how to leave it or set down you need to write everything, restrictions ,no left or right turn , first left second left , first right, second right.... list very long and all this information need to be written in book the you can revise . Is not that simple

Yep, I was one and watched a number of my Mini Cab buddies pass out.
Life is a ***** sometimes..........
Surely as a black cab driver you can pickup on any street in London and the pax tells you where they want to go and within seconds you have to pick a route, or at least a direction and off you go.

With an office you know where the pax is going and have plenty of time to pick a route.

So every trip you do on Uber is testing you and its completely random just like it would be driving a cab. That's got to be beneficial?
work is work and study is study can't mix
Working as a Private Hire Driver and doing the Knowledge is not to burn yourself out.
But driving down streets you can mentally in your mind call each street as you turn.

So every trip you do on Uber is testing you and its completely random just like it would be driving a cab. That's got to be beneficial?
As you don't get the address up front.
Before Sat Nav, I got the address upfront, would look up on the A-Z if I didn't know it. In the early days I hated having to look at the A-Z if the customer didn't know the address they were going so got good a memorizing the A-Z destination.
Even when Sat Nav's came in I would go my own route and only look at the Sat Nav when getting close to drop off.

Yes when you're on road it much easier And simple
3 points circle of you go
But can you do that in appearances ???
The answer is big NO it the same when you're passing driving licence means need to learn every small details and be able remember it not easy
Need to remember memorize over 25000 landmarks and over 30000 streets names
Sorry but your logic doesn't work when it come to do Knowldge
Dude I didn't want to point this out but the Knowledge has an "e" in it lol
A number of posts in this thread spelled the word Knowledge wrong, I guess that is why its a Verbal Test.

Just a friendly jest, not a personal jibe :)
