That is an interesting idea. I was wondering how Uber would be able to maintain a fleet of driverless cars and afford the insurance and maintenance costs... Dealing with loss of life, accidents... keeping the cars clean. Really the only way they could survive that model would be to have other people own the cars... They would be ass raped too.... When autonomous vehicles become prevalent, a driver contractor who is currently operating a single vehicle will be able to own, operate and maintain several autonomous vehicles.
Just as it is now, operators will be paid for the use of the cars, but Uber will not be responsible for any of the costs or liabilities when something goes wrong.

Yes, I do try to use destination mode to get back but successes are very limited doing that. So generally, I avoid long trips unless they pay really well (which most often they don't).Empty? So you think when Rideshare goes fully autonomous that they're still going to be money to be made, here's what I think I predict is going to happen, every Mary, Dick and Harry with a driverless car will be able to download an Uber app, assign the hours that they wish to release their car to Uber and our Lyft or whatever service is doing the rideshare and they'll probably be paid less than half we get now, what is my brain working for this, someone who owns a Tesla which needs very little maintenance to begin with not going to care if you're only getting 30 40 50 cents a mile on their car the only ones who are going to care if they don't like the fact that the mileage is going up on their car and the fact they have to buy tires more often,Who do you think is currently funding the Uber cars? Believe it or not I happen to agree with damn near everything you wrote above, but the fact is there will be self-driving car owners that will sign up and they will do it not thinking that they're not making very much profit to maintain their car and for the eventual cleanups are going to have to do, it's like there are drivers out here who take these calls 10 miles away for four or five bucks, or take these calls for a 50-mile trip for 30 bucks, I had one right now as I'm typing this come up for Fontana to Fullerton offering me $31 not happening, there's going to be some dumbass self-driving car owner that's going to say to themselves I'm sitting here on my couch and my car made me 25 or 30 bucks to drive to Fullerton and maybe back again for another 25 or 30 bucks oh my God my car is a money tree, until they realize as I said their tires are wearing out faster or God forbid they get a small fender bender or a door Dent that cost thousands of dollars to fix, will probably happen they'll start off paying them a decent rate for their cars for the first year or so and then after that the rates will go down just like it did for human drivers and dumbasses are still be leasing their cars out to Uber.when rideshare goes fully autonomous lmao

I don't believe there is a minimum. Or it is only pennies. I remember a ride I did that had a $5 boost and a $7 Surge and it paid something like $12.13.
