Upfront pricing realization

Upfront pricing came to help us realize that we don’t make any money. How can you make money if you do a trip of 84 minutes 31 mile and only getting paid $38.28. This is insane. Pricing should be based on traffic also. Come on Uber! w

If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding! How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!

You think Uber’s algorithm works like that? Something to think about. Thanks!

"How can you make money if you do a trip of 84 minutes 31 mile and only getting paid $38.28?"

Answer: You don't do that trip. You wait for a better one, or just go home and wait for a better time to drive.

Are you getting any quests?
Last weekend I got an additional $605 for 80 trips
That's where the money is now
People w long trips can suck my butt
And it's all on uber 😉
Maybe if someone could get the bad parts
of upfront pricing (pay cut) and long trips
not getting picked up to go viral
uber would do something about it

So from 7:34am til 9:04am you made $10.26 on a minimum fare trip and took a SECOND shower?

Thats $10.26 for 90 minutes of time. How on earth is that better than getting $39 plus any potential tip for 84 minutes? Oh and you are in Anaheim at 9am when Disney is opening.

I can count on one hand the number of showers that I would’ve paid $28 for………😂😉🤣

Did I miss sarcasm here? Please say I missed the sarcasm.

This really exposes that for the most part, driver time is worth nothing to them, drivers are worth nothing. Drivers are like Chinese ants: completely replaceable. :cautious:

Uber/Lyft/Google/other are waiting for self-driving cars they can "make a killing off of." Wait until they have to do maintenance on vehicles they own...

"Rideshare is a hobby where most of your expenses are reimbursed." --Lyft driver
I firmly believe ^^this^^ applies to most (not all) drivers who are not using every hack/advantage/tip they can.

My top Quest this week is 70 trips for $40. Not $400. $40

It won't cost them anything, because they will not actually "own" any cars.
All costs, risks, and liability will be shifted to third-party fleet operators.

Easy there buddy. 84 minutes is not really that long of time. Broken down by hour this pays $27.85/hr from accepting the ride to drop off. A good rideshare driver should have no more than $5-$7/hr in expenses. So worst case this job pays $20/hr after expenses. Not “great” but by no means should $20/hr be considered Uber not caring about the drivers time. In your city of Milwaukee the minimum wage according to Google is $7.25. This one way trip pays nearly three times that. 👀

Furthermore, part of upfront fares is how busy it is at drop off location. It ends in Anaheim, the biggest city in OC around 9am, a very busy time of the day. There are a plethora of trips to Disneyland, John Wayne Airport, Long Beach airport, LAX and downtown LA. Potentially with surge. So a good paying fare out of Anaheim is almost guaranteed.

The only thing that makes this trip unacceptable is the fact that it’s 7:34am so the potential for high surge is always looming. I probably would only have jumped on it if I was an OC or SD driver looking to get back after an LA drop off. LA drivers would wait for something surge staying in LA county. It’s a driver preference thing, not a bad offer problem. IMO. 👊🏻

That is a good point, if you're not dead-heading back or only given ant-it offers, and if the time estimate is accurate given heading into rush-hours traffic (and not getting 1-starred for not hitting the time estimate).

Your expenses estimate might be low, CA gas is $6+/gallon, and X is burning maybe 2 gallons, so that plus maint. costs and vehicle depreciation is...would you say $38.28 -$12 -($0.30 x 32 miles) = $17 / 90 minutes = $11.25 to $13 hour, roughly? In CA that's not a lot of $$$, IMHO. Maybe I'm wrong?

your in a great quest market mines this 2nd half if $210 for eighty...most markets are less.
That's $27/hour and $1.19/mile.
In my market it would be a deadhead back, maybe not the case for you...

DIVIDED BY TWO... YOU HAVE TO COME BACK
No you don’t. In fact you’re an idiot if you go from LA to Anaheim and deliberately drive back without a fare. It’s about knowing your markets. Anaheim is the largest city in OC and has Disneyland. The drop off was 9am. Probably took less than 10 minutes to find a ping to LAX or DTLA.

Is that your strategy? Drive back to where you started to wait for the next ride? Hint: you’re doing it wrong. 👊🏻

I have been working for Uber since 2017 and hourly has gone from $70 to this. Thank God I work from my cellphone and have Uber on the side. I would not know what I would do with $27 an hour (minus all expenses) here in LA.
