Rather than threads that are full of doom and gloom i thought I'd start with today's ride.

A full blown fridge as an XL ride. Kirrawee to pymble for a regular guy in the film industry.

The fridge was a prop for a commercial with b a ck cut out.

Cool! There was an Irish guy a few years back who hitch-hiked around Ireland with a washing machine! His adventures and misadventures were turned into a very funny documentary. Worth checking out.
As far as unusual XL trips are concerned, one of my favourites was 12 gnomes from a garden centre. For a bit of fun, I put some of them in the seats with seatbelts on. The manageress was impressed and came out and took lots of photos and she added them to her website for a bit of fun. Another unusual one was 5 Victoria Secret models travelling from one show to another. Also I've had 6 nuns,a Buddhist monk called Jake, 6 Steve Irwin's and 6 drag queens all called Bruce 🤣🤣. The nuns and Steve's were fancy dress of course.
Just goes to show that there is still fun and laughter in this game. These sorts of things can make your day.

No he was a friend. The fridge was gutted of compessor etc so very light As for damage had heavy duty moving sheets.

My guess is your are one of those drivers that does nothing but complain everything is doom and gloom instead of what this thread is about THE LIGHTER SIDE OF UBERING

I had some one deliver just a head in a refrigerator box filled with ice.

No I didn't ask. And no I didn't let on I saw it. Likely saved my life.

Are you really sure you to do this type of work?

Statistics says everyday your around 6 people that one of those 6 has killed someone in their life.

Think about it, every sixth customer you picked up today has killed someone, taken their life. And you don't even know the details why.

 Why is life in the US such a living hell? Those statistics seems plausible. It's what the Wild Wild West has always been known for.

We know that violence & murder are the highest of any country not actively engaged in a (declared) civil war. The gun toll is on much the same scale as the road toll - and always in the top 20 causes of death (and in the top 10 if suicide is included). In some states it regularly exceeds it.

Incomprehensible anywhere else in the world.

Guns don't kill people.

People kill people.

If they don't have a gun, they simply will use something else instead.

At least a gun is more humane for a quick killing than say being hacked to death with a machete. The human body can survive quite awhile with it's extremities cut off.

Or about being burned to death tied to rubber tires, quite a slow and painful death used quite often where there are no guns.

The US shares a land border with Central and South America and has a vibrant economy that craves drugs.

Then it has a substantial amount of unproductive unemployable people with low IQ levels and high birth rates so their only choice is to pedal narcotics.

America has problems and our great economy draws undesirables here like a magnet.

You certainly have problems and you'll have many more especially after today's event in Utah. There's a certain delightful irony to the fact that a pro gun antagonist came to an end by someone probably with the same 18th century mindset. There are only 2 other countries on the planet that let's the mindless masses have unfettered access to (in some states) military grade firearms. They are Mexico and Nicaragua. You're in fine company there.
Also the gun lobby BS "Guns don't kill people, people kill people", is ridiculous and is a gun lovers apologetic to justify his love of guns. It's insanity of the highest order, throw in extremist religious and political views and you're left with a constant situation of "what could possibly go wrong".

@ObeyTheNumbers You're right that "people kill people". But they use weapons such as guns & knives - even rocks if they happen to be laying around.

And contrary to some rumours, even here in Australia we have guns & knives too. But we also have rules about who, what, where, how & what for they can be used. Consequently we don't have so many, we don't feel the need to have so many and the violent-crime numbers are less. Even if we allow for those that are unregistered or illegally held. Even for a country that started off as a penal colony.

Don't you ever ask yourself why? Why is it just accepted as a way of life? Why is there so much fear & such a deeply polarised society, that the only way to feel secure is even more weapons? You're not at risk of invasion. The greater risk is from within - and has been for some time.

@ObeyTheNumbers ...But we also have rules about who, what, where, how & what for they can be used. ...
So do we but criminals don't care about laws, only about not getting caught which is rather easy to do because the law can't be everywhere all the time.

Laws are for those who want to follow the guidelines of society, useless against those who don't.

Criminality is so bad here we actually have a political party that caters to these people, gets them roiled up and radical. Right now those people are protesting immigration enforcement in Chicago like they did previously in Los Angeles.

No. Laws exists for a society to function effectively. Without them you have anarchy.

Full-time, professional, career criminals (like your head choppers) are extremely rare. But at the moment they're winning. Rather than "draining the swap", the entire country is swamped with fear.

BTW
So do we ...
The US doesn't have effective laws across state borders. It's too polarised for them to ever agree on anything. Structural change doesn't happen.

I will give my perspective from 10000 odd drops.

1 -drop off where customer wanted to give me weed as a tip.

2-Another 1 where customer wantedto give me $5 cash tip-I politely refused and she ended up giving me $20 through app-go figure.

3-1 yesterday and 5 bags from supermarket which were 20kgs.

Lady met me at bottom of 3 flight of stairs and said she would carry bags up.

Beingthe gentleman that I am , insisted no ,and brought bags up for her ,and pretty exhausted afterwards.

1 thing throughout my years on eats, customers 99.99% are nice, or maybe it helps that I have on app

’very respectful of customers if meet me outside”

Thanks for starting this thread ,and eats drops rates have increased over last couple of weeks but can change in an instant.

I picked up a male and female at Bankstown hospital I didn’t get a great look at them at first but as they jumped in I noticed the meth vibes they were giving off, twitching and irratic speech.

First thought was “fark.” They proceeded to tell me they were visiting their mate in the psych ward after he went into a psychosis on this very bender.

thankfully it was a relatively short 12 minute distance I thought to myself, this soon changed after they demanded a stop to pick up a fizzy drink. It had been a dead slow day and I figured the path of least resistance is safest option so we headed to the shop the female down right demanded I give her my phone number so they could call me during the week for lifts and I laughed out loud and tried to explain how insurance wouldn’t like that and she got more and more demanding meanwhile the guy was quiet as hell just seemed to be taking a backseat to his more outgoing friend. eventually I got sick of it and said “No don’t ask again.”

Thinking now I’ve done it they gonna ****in stab me she started screaming for me to honk my horn to make the ever changing car infront go faster. My solution to this was to turn up the volume of “Chains” by Tina Arena to max to drown out her constant “honk the horn!”

we got to the shop in Padstow and she jumped out and ran inside the quiet guy was like “don’t mind her man she crazy.”

I said “it’s cool bro *****es be trippin.” Despite his very inebriated state he laughed in recognition, a few minutes of chit chat passed and I realised how long we had been waiting. I saw a “are you okay?” Message appear on the uber app and I figured we close to drop off it’ll be okay so I said I’m okay. She ended up coming back out and as we took off she screamed “Go GO! Oh btw I got you a 600ml coke.” As I dropped them off they asked if I needed a weed hook up and I politely declined and wished them a great day. As I drove off I just laughed to myself at the complete chaos I had just experienced.

That was the wildest ride I’ve had.

Had 1 today.

Drop was gardeners road, turn off to rickety street, always no parking there but thought there may be an apartment car park so put the question. to customer via app.

Answer came back didn’t know as new to apartment block.

Thought he was been a smart arse but parked on Galloway street and 3 min walk to drop.

Buzzed and no answer but seen a young guy waving at me outside in pyjamas.

He said had gone outside to try and find parking spot for me.

What a respectful thing to do(y)(y)(y)
