If I rent a vehicle for PH, I know I can claim the rental as a tax deductible expense, but in the case of rental, is it better to claim for mileage as an expense (@.045p per mile for 1st 10k miles) OR better to claim fuel costs?

can you even claim mileage if renting (as well as rental costs)?

£0.45p per mile is applicable only if you use your own purchased car for work purposes. The £0.45p covers any and all running costs for the vehicle that you personally own and use for work.

If you are renting, then you claim the fuel costs, insurance, the rental fee and any other costs for using the car for work as a percentage.

You can only use one or the other. But you have to own a car to use the £0.45p.
