Hey everyone!

Just got approved to drive the UberX platform and I'm interested in getting started tonight! Any tips/hints you can give me for my first trip?

Also, what's with all the UberPool hate? I don't quite understand. Shed a little light perhaps? :)

Thanks!

Cheers

Just follow your navigation and drive safe! You'll do fine!

Poo hate is really about how the product is structured. You should only be able to request poo rides when there is rush hour and/or surging as by definition it is busy and you have a high probability of being matched on rides. Poo riders also give you lower ratings. It is also more troublesome for driver to be accepting/re-routing mid rides (safety issue). Finally for those of us driving Select vehicles we are also forced to take poo. So this basically sums up why Poo is disliked by some, others like it.

I've found that the best way to simulate the stages one goes through driving Uber is to start by tapping yourself on the head with a feather (your current stage) until you can find a tack hammer. Then slowly work your way through the range of 8oz to 16oz ball peen hammers. I myself am in full sledge hammer mode. I'm now attempting to go full Monty Python and have someone drop the one ton anvil upon my wretched self. Someone help me please. I only do this because it feels so damn good when I stop.

Please don't let this rant discourage you. Your results may vary. Best of luck.

P.S. I hate fun. That's why I "partner" with Uber!

Thanks Superduber! I've read about driver's denying or canceling Poo rides. Is this advisable for a newbie? I'm getting this impression that getting a low rating is not that difficult.
As a newbie starting out until I would say at least 50 rides, I would avoid any Poo rides at all costs. The reason for that is because it takes some time to learn how to use the navigation on the app and learn the streets/ normal pick up spots. Keeping riders waiting longer than needed is going to lower your ratings and you do not need that in the beginning

Your correct I meant in general a lot on here are just so negative about the job the customers etc. makes me wonder why they even bother , when I joined this I thought it would be positive and useful to all of us drivers , sadly that's not the case .
A customer of mine the other day asked if I had heard of this very site , they were not impressed by a lot of us on here to say the least .

The beauty of this site is anyone can say what they want, negative or positive. Also the reality of this site is it a reflection of human nature. Unfortunately it's not that interesting to hear about the 99.9999% of people that didn't get into an accident, get mugged, house didn't burn down, zoo animal that didn't escape today, etc.

But please do post some of your good Uber stories.

I read somewhere you won't get poo pings until 25 or 50 trips, don't take my word for it though. Good luck.
I would add:
You only have to wait 5 minutes for pax after arrival , if you cancel no-show, you get compensated...
If pax is rude, don't start trip, if you do, they will rate you 1*...

There is money out there for sure , If you do all the math of course it's less on paper , I just went out for an hour and made $60 not really even trying , my advice is not to rush to the surge clouds , waste of time , pools are stupid and time consuming I just got shut down for 10mins for not picking up a pool but it happens , just keep your head in , dont rush and be yourself , you'll do fine .
