I went to an Employee thing where the nice Uber girl set me up for SELECT but I see nothing different about my account. People here talk about "setting" or "choosing" X or SELECT but I don't see where you can do that.

The girl told me their computer system handles things automatically where I will get pinged for SELECT if a rider request is near or it will send me X if that is the only request close to me.

Sounds to me like X would be pinging all the time as it always has...people talk about waiting as if they have bypassed the Uber system to send them X requests?? How does that work??

I have a 2014 Genesis and it was my Riders who suggested I apply for something better than X.

A Genesis is a Select car? No offense, but the standards get lower every month.

You need a profile to login in that allows for X and Select requests. It sounds like you have that. Email support and tell them you want a Select only profile.

I wonder what the ratings are for Select drivers who push Korean tin around.

Hi Steve C.

First, have you tried logging out and then back into the app? Anytime some kind of update is done on your account, it's easiest to check if the update worked by logging in/out. There are 3 ways to be set on Select. (1) What's known is cascading, which is that'll you'll be available to receive both uberX and Select requests (2) Select-only. You'll have to email support or go to the Westwood support center office to be on Select-only request. Obviously, this means you won't get any uberX requests (3) You ask email support or go to Westwood support office and ask to have 2 identical vehicle views. One is uberX and one if Select. This gives you, the driver, the control on what vehicle view you want to be at anytime. You'll just have to login in/out to switch each time.

Based on your description, it sounds like you're on #1 above.

Good luck!

Thanks xUberEmployee...that is exactly the information I was looking for :)

As far as "pushing Korean tin around" (that sounds a bit racist), my last car was an E-350 Sedan and I must say I love my Genesis way more than my old "E". The cars basically look alike but the Tech is way better (maybe because it is newer than my "E" was) and fully loaded I only spent 40k which is about 20k savings on the fully loaded "E" at the time. Not to mention "Service A" at Mercedes (basically an Oil Change) was a couple of hundred bucks and my oil change on the Hyundai is only $39.

I admit I was a bit shocked myself with the quality that Hyundai is now producing.

Who knows why Uber would approve such a vehicle for SELECT?? The only thing that comes to mind is maybe they have seen it and driven it??

Disclaimer: I'm just some regular chucklehead guy who has owned BOTH vehicles and driven them around for some time and sharing my useless opinion...what the hell do I know? I don't even own expensive brand name sunglasses or an expensive watch either. I'm pretty sure if I was THAT guy, I would not even be caught driving people around in the first place, I would be sitting in the back eating my brand named caviar :)

You might be right UberComic...I'm surprised I am the first "Test Case" here but feel prepared to try it out and report back.

To hedge my success, I always have:

Cold Water Bottles
Various Gum & Mints
Color-coded marked charging cables for iPhone & Android
AUX Cable and/or Bluetooth Audio Connections
Cellular iPad on Passenger Head Rest (for entertainment...no ads)

and of course an immaculate car (which is hard with a black car) & button down shirt

I emailed uber today asking why my car isn't on the select list...they sent me the list of select cars and I replied back to them and told them that every pax that gets into my vehicle always asks "ooh did I order the wrong one" "did I order the more expensive one" I drive a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit...it is fully loaded and a beautiful car...all leather double sun roof...and they told me they would look into and get back to me...I will be very disappointed if they say no

There needs to be a reclassification of all of the vehicles and levels. I don't feel Avalons, Maximas and a Taurus should be in the same group as a Camry, Altima or a Fusion. It's a different experience, different ride and much more room and gas. Its really discerning.
