Why would Uber implement Upfront pricing ? Why would Uber fixed the price for a trip ? Because it allows them to set the price. To underquote a price to the rider. Riders who see a low price will likely request the trip. Upfront Pricing is Uber's way to win back those riders that have moved over to their competitors' service (mainly Ola).

All this time each trip fare has always been correctly and accurately computed or calculated by Uber's own system. The kms and time is displayed for each trip. And they have been 100% accurate. So why switch to an inaccurate random method to calculate the final fare amount or invoiced amount. It allows Uber to underquote and undercut their competitors prices.

Since Upfront pricing, the gross fare amounts are mostly down by approximately 5-10%. Check for yourselves. The details are there in each of your completed trip.

Kms x rate, time x rate plus base rate are mostly less since Uber implemented Upfront Pricing. Uber has been ripping off their drivers without their knowledge. Drivers have not been checking their gross fares amounts of trips they completed since Upfront pricing was implemented. They would have to agree to the new terms and conditions of the Upfront pricing contract to get online.

If you think Uber and riders are taking advantage of your time and car, give the trip 1 star ! Prices are already advertised on the Uber's website and in the riders app. There is no need for Upfront Pricing or fixed pricing unless Uber is trying to underquote and win back business. The drivers are the ones losing money. You are getting less money (regardless of amounts) for your time and you have been taken advantage of.

Btw, giving 1 star after your (driver's) first rating for the trip wouldnt work. Uber filters (and will block) the 2nd rating for any trip !

Looks like a matter of "garbage in garbage out" then. Data collected is highly valuable for any ride share company. They do a lot of data mining and data analysis. They analyse every click, every swipe, every key stroke on their apps.

I suppose it does screw up their rating data and how you use their app when you first give 1 star. And then make subsequent adjustments.

Quite good way to teach them a lesson actually. Mess up their data
