Ubering on Long Island

Hi! I am a newbie and have been ubering in New York for 4 weeks now. I live on Long Island and usually end up ubering in the city. However, since I am a Long Islander , I would actually prefer to do uber on Long Island. I have started accepting pings on Long Island but I am worried. I have some questions about ubering on Long Island? Can we uber on Long Island? I mean ....Uber does show up requests on Long island....So, I believe we can do uber on Long Island. Do we require any special licensing to do uber on Long island? If so what other licenses should I get to do uber here on Long Island? I want to be legal driving uber on Long Island. How do I do it? I often drive around Huntington, Syosset, Oyester Bay, Garden City, Hicksville and pretty much all of Suffolk and Nassau Counties. Please advice me regarding what I have to do to avoid getting in trouble with the police here on Long Island. Thank you.

i got ticketed last night and i wasn't even driving. i was getting a cup of coffee and had the app on. once i got to the car two nassau county tlc guys flashed their badges and got me. they ask for your trip sheet or waybill and if your last trip was point to point they nail you.
Good. That's the way how it supposed to be.

Don't have to give them ish. No warrant. 5th amendment right not to self incriminate
they are out to get money, i applied for the nassau county tlc license months ago and still waiting on it, every time i call to they give me the run around.
i am going to have cell phone video recording even when out of the car now in nassua county now.
is crazy, I'm scare to even drive to my regular job. they might be waiting for me by my car when i finish my shift.
Can't agree more.

There are Uber drivers driving from the City, sleeping in their cars literally 24/7 during the summer and 24/4 (Fri-Mon) during winter months here in East End.

I personally drive back to the City for Juno/Lyft work only (no, I am not homeless, I have a place in Manhattan too) and never turn the Uber app on in the city) from Tue-Fri on most weeks in the winter since it is totally dead here during weekdays of long winter months.

Desperation due to over-saturation (thanks to Uber and NYC TLC) created hundreds of homeless drivers especially over the past couple of years.

Eventually, there will be a breaking point in this industry, like 2007 real estate/mortgage crash. Biggest indication is, auto loan lenders do not even talk to potential buyers when they hear the keyword "Uber".

Those exotic(!) auto loans with "no down/no credit" and "lease-to-own" bubble will burst eventually. Wait and see...
Now I know the genesis of your name.
News 12 is working on a story about how Southampton Town is pushing for stricter background checks for for-hire drivers (uber & etc) and increasing fees. Are any Long Island drivers concerned about this? If so we'd like to talk to you on camera. Call 516-393-1394 Ask for Brad. Thanks..
Can you help us get uber , lyft and all rideshare companies to be Legal on Long Island?!! I have a Nassau and Suffolk TLC license but I was unable to get the registeration stickers because the insurance policy of the car was not interested in adding the long island TLCs to the policy. The other night I was literally harrassed to get off the road by this taxi cab behind me who wouldn't stop horning and flashing his bright lights on me till i pulled over and let him pass!! I have done everything in my reach to be able to drive legally on Long Island but this is really ridiculous!! I am not willing to go on camera but if you can please make all rideshare companies legal on Long Island. The passengers who order uber clearly mention to me that they do not want to take the taxies at the taxi stand. And at least for residents of Long Island like myself, it is inconvenient to drive all the way to Manhattan when we live here.

When did this go in effect?
Looks like today, haven't had a ping all day.
Apparently passargers are still able to make a request.
