Got this email to do UberAssist. As much as I like to help out elderly and handicapped PAX, it seems like it would just make it more likely for me to get calls further than ten minutes away. Plus quick cancel doesn't work anymore. If Uber cut their commission on these trips, I would consider it though.

Why would you want trips that oay the same as uberx but will likely take longer to load and unload etc?

What Uber should do is not take their 20% to make up for the extra time and effort involved.

It might be a way to get more trips when uberx is slow and there's a special event but at other times it wouldn't be worth it.

There's a reason government subsidizes these sorts of services and/or mandates a % of the fleet be equipped to do them.

When uber launched this very program in
Chicago ,it had % 0 introductory Commission.
Why Should I Register?
  • The opportunity to HELP others
  • 0% INTRODUCTORY COMMISSION on ALL UberASSIST trips
  • UberASSIST Training AT NO COST provided by Open Doors Organization
  • Provides an additional way to increase your earnings

I can't see many drivers doing this training knowing they won't be making more on each trip. Uber can't charge any more than a regular trip to avoid backlash, but they should give drivers and incentive to do them by waving commissions. It's going to take extra time and fuel to do these pickups, and drivers are on thin margins as it is.

Chicago got reduced commissions for veteran drivers as well. UberLA needs to step it up.

Is uber that fkn stupid that I'll do these type of rides for UberX pricing ?? Ahahaahahhhaahahhahahhaahahahaha.

I would love to help the elderly and disabled but this is fkn ridiculous.

I know someone personally who works for Access that government funded assistance program for physically disabled etc and I'm sure he makes way more than .80 cents a mile LOL!!!

Huh?
Still working for me. Are you experiencing something different?
Skipping is most likely going to be around for a long time. Its the only way to tell the system you're not driving for less.

BTW, I signed up for the Wednesday session if anyone wants to meetup before or after PM me. I hope to have my flyers by then to share.

Yeah, I don't see the sense (or cents) in spending the extra time to do this Uber Assist. Does it really matter how our time is wasted? Either the PAX makes us wait, or we're taking the extra time needed for the riders who need extra help. That's what Access is for, and I'm not going to do it for UberX fares....

Please show us Drivers the the money.

Helping others - I have no problem.
Helping Uber without being compensated - problem.

Good luck to all who go for this. Bad deal in my book.

Local government agencies spend big money on providing transportation services for elderly and those with special needs. Uber wants Drivers to do this for bupkis.

Exactly. I had a disabled pax before who needed assistance getting in the car, putting the seatbelt on, loading wheelchair in the trunk and etc. I helped and everything with putting him back to his wheelchair and not even a tip of increased fare. What a joke.

I would have never done that because it is a huge liability issue.

Uber is very fond of volunteering your time and effort for free. As long as it does not cost Uber anything they are all for it.
