OK! You have me intrigued as to how an Uber Driver can be deactivated from footage from a supermarket. An Uber Driver should always remain inside his vehicle and not get involved in altercations away from the vehicle. If a rider does not want to leave an Uber, the driver should call Police and wait in the car until they arrive. In no way should a driver try to physically remove a passenger from his vehicle. Laying hands on a rider is just asking for trouble and deactivation.
OP posted that the driver got assaulted not the other way around.
If you are getting punched in the car one of the best things you can do is get out of the car to stop getting punched
In my city it isn't that much of a laughing matter two riders punched two separate drivers multiple times and each landed that blow to the eye where they went blind in that eye because they just sat in the car and took it too scared to get deactivated or do anything. However the resulting injury from both drivers basically stopped them driving anyways. Oh yeah they got 1 eye now and uber didn't do anything. Made it news round and then forgotten.
Been other times of assaulted where the rider started punching the driver from behind and on the side from the back of the car in which case the driver took the keys and ran away from the rider that got out to chase him but gave up but driver still got concussion as a result of the blows to the head.
