UberRon and drivindad ever heard of

"Two wrongs don't make a right." ?

Is there anyway we can warn the boys in Canberra that after spending $2-3k on fees, licenses, accreditation, road worthy, training etc to get on the road that they wont be making any money ? After 3500 Uberx drivers get on the road there wont be enough work to go around ?

Surely there must be some way we can warn them ?

I will take this opportunity to warn new drivers about the pitfalls of driving fri, sat nights. I did for 8 years and one thing is for sure you will be transporting plenty of drunks intent on a rage over the weekend. They will be rude to you, show off infront of their friends by giving you a hard time. They will also vomit in your car. They're drunk and can't help it.

Next is damage to the inside of your car. They will often kick, hit, twist stuff to see how strong it is. They will often want to eat and drink inside of your car often resulting in spills or a mess left behind.

If it's a particularly long trip some ladies will pee on your seat. Too embarassed infront of friends to ask you for a pit stop half of them probably don't realise what they've done. The guys just get out and pee on your wheel. Less common is blood found in your car if they have a nose bleed or are injured from a scuffle.

I have even had a passenger wanting a trip with her push bike. Not fitting in the boot it fits on the back seat ! and axle grease is left behind from the chain.

I believe that some people will also try to have sex while on the back seat. Thats another story. Have you ever noticed 99.9% of Taxis have jet black interiors, theres a good reason for that.

I wont discuss here the number of drivers bashed, robbed, stabbed or killed each year in every state. There was one driver burned alive when the passengers threw him in the boot and started a bonfire under his car.

As they say "forewarned is forearmed".

It was a lady and I didn't want her on the streets late at night, no light, was unsafe for her.

One guy one night jumped in the front seat with a bat. It was caged. Here in Queensland we have the hendra virus and one bite from one bat and it's good night nurse. They are ugly up close.

This blind dude hops in the back seat one day with his guide dog and we legally cannot refuse guide dogs. As soon as we take off he starts feeding his guide dog food from his hand ! I guess he forgot to feed his dog at home.

I do hope you realize we are all squabbling over peanuts for the chance to be burnt alive in the boot ! killed in a car accident or suffer a terminal disease, thats insane. And for what reason ? Oh thats right the people are demanding rides in luxury cars with the drivers absolutely bending over backwards to be nice, all this at greatly reduced prices, thanks for reminding me !

Meanwhile the tax office is taking 37% income tax plus Gst 10% thats a whooping 47% of your lousy takings disappear to the Government each week and this is the thanks you are getting for the risks you are taking !!!

And the Federal Government currently spends 100 million per day more than it takes in revenue and there is talk of the Gst/Income tax going up ! thanks very much.

Btw I forgot to mention as well as interior damage from customers you are also most likely your vehicle is involved in at least 1 accident during its life on the road.

Ever see x Taxis advertised for sale. Forget it they all been in a prang and puked in.

This claim was already debunked in another thread. Repeating it doesn't make it any more true nor does it help your credibility.
No one should be handing over 10% of their fares in GST. Everyone has oodles of claimable input credits.

Income tax is calculated after GST not as compound as you believe

Debunked ? Oh really. Would you like to speak to my accountant ? I will post details of my Bas statement for the quarter 1/07/2015 - 30/09/2015. I spent the first month off work on sick leave.

I work part time and for the quarter I netted $1172.01 take home. On this the Ato want me to pay $86 Gst. They were expecting me to make a bit more than that but because of illness and Uberx I did not.
The Ato for this quarter want me to pay $753 payg !

Net pay = $1172.01
Gst and payg = $839

My share comes to $333 for the quarter after risking my life for 2 months. I can take a copy of my Bas and post it online no problem if you don't believe me !

This does not include the cost of petrol to and from work. I have to drive 10k to get to work. This is not tax deductible. Thank you for alerting me to the fact that I am basically working 12hr days risking my life for nothing. Tytytyty I will forever be in your debt !

Never mind your comments about my credibility I will forgive you for that. Btw I was late posting my Bas statement in the mail one quarter ( you have a month to get it in ) and I was fined $850 for the pleasure ! Thank you ATO !!!

The Ato treat everyone like criminals and shoot first and ask questions later ... remember Paul Hogan ! Several x small business owners I know who have long ceased operations still get hounded by the Ato years later. If theres one piece of advice I can give is become involved with Bas and the Ato at your peril !

Actually your BAS won't tell me where you have gone wrong, but something is amiss.
Could you post your P&L statement (if you have one) or email me at [email protected]
Hehehe You must think I came down in the last shower Goor. I was thinking you might ask for P/L or similar. One thing years of driving teaches you "Trust No-one".

To clear things up I have a day job which puts me over $50k and on the 37% rate.

Do you always debunk so easily ? Do you easily debunk everyday or only in your dreams hmmm ? Have you ever debunked anything ever ???

Your eagerness to work/profit from illegal activity tells us exactly the type of person you are ... basically dishonest, low life parasite I would say.

Sneaky Pete, You must think the rest of us came down in the last shower, nobody in your tax bracket would be paying the amount of tax that you claim you have to pay.
Net pay = $1172.01 Well that would be Gross pay if you have not had tax deducted yet.
payg = $753. This is not %37.
$433 is %37 of $1172.
It appears you are telling porky pies.

Pete it seems to me that your biggest issue is with the ATO and paying tax period. Get over it dude we all must pay tax.

You also said you risked your life for 2 months. doing 12hr days. Man and you only got approx $1400 in fares. I think you need to get back in your taxi cause Uber ain't for you. Get a new tax accountant too as I think he or she may be taking some of your hard earned cash and sticking it their coffers.

Where does the $2-3k come from sneakypete? I have spent nothing. The inspection cost nothing. The new licence/registration will cost $100 pa.

I don't know if sneakypete is a taxi driver or just being smart by trying to discourage drivers and reduce the saturations. I do suggest he change accountants because what he states doesn't add up and he should be claiming more as a deduction.

Uber Canberra 1 keep us all posted on the finer detail of ride-rourcing in Canberra. With the introduction of new legislation and reduction of existing. With the view of Uber be regulated in Canberra you won't be able to avoid getting adequate commercial insurance and commercial passenger registration with some sort of fee or additional operators license. Collectively that will all add up to some sort of investment plus car to enter Uber or ride-sourcing in Canberra.

From what I can find regarding fees for drivers in the regulated Canberra environment.... "UberX drivers will need to pass an accreditation which will cost AU$50 per person, as well paying a licence fees of AU$100 a year or AU$400 for five years." The accreditation is a simple 1/2 day course. The regulations will be approved next year but until then Uber is allowed to operate now provided the usual checks are conducted and cars are inspected. Uber and any other ridesharing platform will not be permitted to prohibit drivers from also driving for other services. i.e. I could drive for both Uber and Lyft.
