Uber to start tracking driver behavior

Here we go with Big Brother.

Uber sank their money into this but they cannot add a tipping feature into the app!

Things like acceleration, braking and speed will be tracked. So if a pax is in a hurry you can say that Uber will not let you drive fast and then receive a driver rating below 4 stars.....

My first thought was that it was a little bit oppressive, but it could also be a handy tool. I think it'd be cool if the Uber app let me know if I was speeding.

And it's not that they cannot add a tipping feature—they've made a conscious decision to omit it.
Great. Now I have to park across the street and run into the McDonald's so they can't see me in the drive thru lane.
As the MA Legislature works out their difference on a ride-share regulation bill, and there will be a tax per ride for "infrastructure", one concern I have is will the list of ride-share drivers be known by the state agency setup to regulate ride-share and further if so will it be shared with insurance companies?

If it is shared with insurance companies we are all exposed and will have to pay for commercial insurance or risk losing our current insurance. This could be a big gift to insurance companies. Thoughts?

No way they'd track our driving. They aren't a transportation company. Quite bi-polar of them.
Tracking is already here. But it also says it won't affect your account standing.

Just setting themselves up for another lawsuit. Employees can be subject to driving behavior clauses.
Good point scamp. since we are independent contractors, can they track driving behavior without offering something in return? The latest download of the Uber partner app included the driver tracking.

I still don't understand how the employee classification lawsuit wasn't a slam dunk or how Uber gets away with we're not a transport company when they want to control every single aspect of the actual transport.

It's almost like Big Foober is a spoiled child that plays both sides of the fence on every issue and always gets its way. Everyone and everything else be darned.
