Nope. The leaders of the strike recommend committing fraud against drivers unwilling to strike, and against the company. While I agree the demands are legitimate, I will not participate in fraud or support any cause that endorses it. I will be driving those days dash cam on, notebook in hand (while parked). Hands on wheel when driving.

I'm confused. jrboy and others always talk about Uber threats and corrupt policies?? Where is that coming from? I'm happy that I will be out of town "strike" weekend so I won't have to deal with this.

A good place to look for stories from Uber drivers across the country is the "uber drivers" thread on Reddit. You will see from drivers in other markets that Uber doesn't give one shit about you or me.

Many drivers will go out there and make money during a successful boycott. There could be a lot of surge if drivers stay off the system.

But.

UBER would still feel the pain.
Customers would still feel the pain.

So, scab drivers probably figure they can go ahead and drive, PLUS, enjoy the benefits a successful boycott may bring about in the long-term.

I don't support the sabotage efforts that were promoted. And I don't begrudge desperate people who simply cannot afford to stay off that weekend.

But If you can afford to, honor the nationwide strike.

You don't have to agree with the leader but the cause. You should all strike for the non tipping option. Going out and turning on the app will not get Ubers attention unless you all unite and refuse pickups during strike. The time has come to stand up for what YOU believe in.

Yea I feel sorry for any1 trying to make a living with uber...there's no way u could make decent money...I think it's best for a little extra cash during surge or a few hours a week when bored....watching some of these video from this uber freedom clown it sounds like there could be a lot of violence....I really think it's gonna get ugly and all the crazy taxis getting involved also...might have something here like they have oversees.....

The problem with the publicity regarding this strike is everything I have seen talks about this Abe clown and the tactics to put in false requests and cancel to mess with the drivers not participating in the strike. None of the articles or news interviews I have seen say anything about the reason for the strike and the changes we are looking for. Those are the things that should be front and center. The PAX here in the Twin Cities love Uber and my guess would sympathize with the drivers if they knew of the demands. That's the type of pub you need. Just one man's opinion!

When I was driving I often had pax tell me they wish they could add tip in the app to expense their travel. Uber should not dictate tips for a service industry. Drivers pay all their own expenses and tips are a way to recoup some of that. It's time for them to add tip option. Drivers have had enough! Go on strike! Do not turn app on!! Take a stand! Uber is SCUM of the Earth!!

I've heard square readers aren't sanctioned by UBER and grounds for deactivation if used to collect tips.

Maybe it's just a bully tactic, not sure.
Where did I say TIPS?
I said any thing you like. Please report accurately.
First off, we pay to share the software platform. As an independant contractor I am free to do anything I please as long as it is legal and ethical. Unless UBER makes me an employee, I fit the independant contractor mold. Any changes would have to be contractural with the contract in place when you signed up as prime. Just like the change in X split. I have worked as an IC for a lot of years and fiund companies like UBER dont do anything without legal review.

There are 3 demands the strike is seeking...I can only remember 2

1. Tip line
2. 7 dollar minimum fare
