If you're Gold or Platinum on boost incentives you pretty much have to take Pool rides to maintain your status. At those bonus rates Pools are tolerable.

Based on my experience transporting a ton of Uber POOL/STOOL passengers over the weekend, most of those riders actually prefer to request a regular X ride but they told me that it's now the "default" selection in the Uber app. I'm guessing this is only for riders within the Metro coverage area.
