An Uber spokeswoman said the class-action suit "can't represent the interest of so many different drivers."
This is another example of how Uber assumes (perhaps correctly) that the media, and the general population, are as dumb as the median Uber driver.
The great thing about class actions is that any potential plaintiff who doesn't want to participate doesn't have to. A class action simply doesn't need to "represent the interest of so many different drivers." But if it CAN represent the interests of 100 drivers, or 1,000, or 10,000, then it is an entirely proper approach to litigation -- for those plaintiffs.
