LOL This video is a year old and even then they start out with a completely inaccurate "160,000" drivers worldwide and state a big cost to Uber is "car maintenance"???
Anyone else getting Uber to pay their maintenance?

They're "losing money" because they've got fares too low (in order to decimate the taxi industry) and are INVESTING in SD technologies.

With those glaring mistakes less than a minute into the video, I didn't even bother watching the rest.

I know right, I have left a common for this video "Not only Uber does NOT pay for car maintenance, also the repair, fuel and insurance are all pay by drivers ".

.
Uber and Lyft keep the rates low because they spend millions subsidizing riders and offering promos. If you do pool, you will talk to riders who get monthly passes where they pay as low as $2.99 for a trip worth up to $20. If the rider is paying $2.99 for a $20 fare, and we get paid normally, who do you think is making up the difference? Uber and Lyft are. If the rates were higher they would have to charge more for each ride and/or pay us more to make up the difference. The second example is all the free and discounted rides Uber and Lyft give to new riders. Again, we get paid as normal, and Uber and Lyft foot the bill. That is why the rates are so low.

No, that is HOW the amount the rider pays is kept low - by Uber/Lyft subsidizing the ride.
But WHY do they (Uber and Lyft) subsidize rides?
Because they feel bad for the rider?
Because they want drivers to be paid fairly?
Come on...
No, it's to achieve market dominance.

You're confusing the how with the why.
