Uber can score publicity points by temporarily let drivers leave the home market and assist with evacuations.

Thats all we need is a crap load of vehicles headed into FL when everyone should be headed out. I doubt it will be long before they reverse the interstates and all ways lead up and out. It would be much better to use school buses or something that are already in place.

I'm all for helping if someone is able to do so.
But how is an uber driver going to help?

You want to pull up to a family that's evacuating and have them stuff as much of their belonging in your car, up to the ceiling, including pets?
They'll probably try to tie their kitchen table on your roof.
Even though they're scared and panicking because of what's happening, once they see an uber driver the entitlement will kick in and they'll treat us like garbage, taking advantage of us and our car.

They'll probably want us make a stop at a drive thru because they're "hungry and thirsty".

I Agree.
Let a seat not be empty on a bus or train leaving florida .
Car dealers should pay people to drive new cars to higher ground.
Cheaper than insurance deductibles.

Funny thing...

A few years back...

I drove a DHL route in the Keys...

Major hurricane came our way...

My station master advised gas up...

And get the truck (nice 250 van)...

Out of the keys...so off I went...

Made it to St Augustine...

That was where my hurricane baby...

Was conceived thirteen years ago...

Butt... Thats another story...8>)

I smell a new platform in the works...
uBer EV. Short for uBer Evacuate. Drivers must provide minimum 6 cases of bottled water.
