Just thinking about it..
I don't mind $1KM at all.
It isn't a full time gig, it is a part time hobby for a bit of extra cash and a way to build social skills etc.

I think in order to weed out some more full timers and truly make it ride sharing it should be changed to 80C per KM.

Given it costs about 50C per KM to run the business. 30C per KM would be your profit before tax when driving, which sounds fair enough Then people would come on for surge, and that is when rides are needed.

The minimum fare should be $8 though. But 80c per KM would be fair.

Guess the price per km wouldn't matter much to you since you hide around the corner to collect cancellation fees....lol

You are lucky, at 0.80/km you are making $1.28/mile, that is better than almost anywhere in the USA. We have places that make less than $0.80/MILE which is less than $0.50/km!

Its a bit hard to compare the US with Australia. In the US no or low minimum wages, cars are very cheap, gas is cheap, etc compared to Aust.
