TLC driver here. Was deep into north Jersey yesterday fishing for a ride to NYC. I get a Pool request and that did not say "Long Trip" like it should have. I normally ignore Pool but needed to get to NYC so I took it. I suspected the ride might be going to Rockland County which Uber sends to TLC just to screw us up. I call the pax and ask if he was going to NYC or NY State. Pax tells me it's just a short ride within town. Canceled the ride. Don't want to take any business away from UberPal and company. Don't believe what Uber tells you about TLC and NJ.

I can confirm this. TLC can still do pool point to point in Jersey. It would seem that black SUV can only get pool in New Jersey right now also.

Uber only sends me trips going out of state. I am a tlc driver and haven't had any point to point trips in NJ in MONTHS! I have gotten requests to go to Philly, Rockland, and Westchester. I truly believe uber and now lyft will send u anywhere as long as the trip doesn't end in NJ (if you have tlc plates)

I'm being told that TLC black cars are not able to pick up any black car work in New Jersey. But that they are getting pool requests for point point in New Jersey.

Darn, I am fresh out of bridges to sell. I see quite a few potential owners for the Gangplank in here. No more TLC in state rides, that is up there with "the check is in the mail, I won't ... in your mouth and I will tip you in the app" for the worlds biggest lies.

It's real. I was hanging out with a couple of uber blacks in Princeton and it would appear that they can get uberX and XL going out of New Jersey, in any direction but no point to point and no black car at all. But for some strange reason they can do all the Uber pool that they want in New Jersey with their Yukon Denalis.

Which probably means Uber is struggling that much to have drivers taking pool to meet demand that they'll give pool to anyone.

They claim they are losing money on pool but I don't see how. Most drivers are Beyond stupid and don't know that they can stop new requests and essentially turned it into an Uber X.
The black and SUV drivers are livid. A lot of these guys live in Jersey and work in Jersey even though they had TLC plates. This has thrown a wrench into their lives and is really affecting their ability to make a living.

An interesting anecdode. Around 1am I get an x request in Hazlet with a 45+ attached. I roll to the motel, drunk gets in the car, confirm the name and hit start trip - going to Murray Street NYC. Now I’m not a TLC, and during the course of the evening I have seen plenty of them, but I get this NYC trip. It was a fast trip in and out because of the hour, but it paid crap IMHO. I’m left wondering, however, why did this NOT go to a TLC?

I've seen instances where a TLC and a NJ Uber were parked right next to each other. The NJ Uber was then sent the NYC job while the TLC got nothing.
