Who was cited at fault in the accident?

Was passenger opening door onto traffic Lane ?

You do realize what a mess this would be if passenger had stepped out behind the door ?

I always watch mirrors when stopping for passengers to disembark.often having to warn them watch out.

Uber has $1,000.00 deductible.

If other driver is at fault, they should cover.

It depends on local laws, or, in your case, what the law is in Toronto. in Ontario or in Canada in general. In the Capital of My Nation, whoever opens the door into traffic is held responsible. This means that if the passenger opens the door into traffic, he is responsible, not the driver.

It might be different in Canada. I do not remember, now. I lived in Canada when I was a young man. It has been a long time since I was young.

Im sure its passengers fault. That's what police told me when I filled a report.

I am curious about the thing what if the so no, then what are my option?

You will likely have to sue the PAX to recover the insurance deductible. Unfortunately, Uber will not provide PAX personal info to drivers, so hopefully you got it at the time of the accident and it is on the police report.

Uber's insurance will cover you IF you have collision on your personal policy, but there is a $1,000 deductible. The best you can probably hope for is to pay it and sue the passenger.

If I see a car coming, and I try to always look, I lock the doors and ask them to exit on the sidewalk side.

My guess is that they are going to argue that you didn't offer a safe place for the client to exit and you shouldn't have let the client exit with oncoming traffic approaching. Not sure about the laws in Canada though.
