"Currently, Uber drivers around the country are facing financial difficulties when they agree to drive for Uber. Over the past few years mileage rates paid to drivers have decreased dramatically. For example, cities like Orlando, FL currently have a rate of .65 cents per mile. This is shameful and makes it nearly impossible for a driver to yield a profit. Costs such as gas, vehicle maintenance, cleaning, etc. are currently the driver's responsibility, which is acceptable being that we are independent contractors, but the rates must increase in order for us to make a living. We're asking for rates to increase across all Uber platforms, country-wide, by a minimum addition of $1 and for tipping to become an option in the app. Doing this will: (1) still keep Uber's prices well below taxi rates, (2) enable Uber drivers to receive a fair profit, (3) receive tips for above-average service, and (4) help to reduce the effects of vehicle depreciation. Uber is making billions of dollars off of drivers who are barely making minimum wage. This must change."
