my riders have been pretty open as far as talking about how much they pay and it seems like Uber is taking nearly 50%! And they claim it’s 25%. Unreal

One needs to take the yearly average, not on a few trips.

What I think occurs is Uber takes more to pay the monthly insurance quicker as perhaps too many are doing it for awhile then bailing out. Why on trip basis it may appear to be more while that's occurring.

On a annual basis $129k gross, Uber took (including taxes and expenses) $46K

So that's apx 36% including expenses. Far better than Lyfts 48% rake take.

The "25%" is what Uber takes for itself to run operations which they are barely profitable. If they quit spending money on stupid robots they would be very profitable.

If Uber is taking too much of your fares it's because you aren't being selective enough. Raise your minimum $/min and don't take trips to dead areas. If you can't get your minimum $/min go home and drive when the supply/demand ratio is more favorable.
