So I pickup this really drunk rich guy at Balboa Bay Club last night around 11:50p and he asks me to take him to a bar I know isnt open that late on a weekday. I suggest he go down by Newport Pier and he says sure so I take him to the pier and drop him off.
Question: Did I get paid normal payment or did I just drive him to Newport Pier for free.
Should I have had him change his destination address?

U get paid for whatever miles n time u drove ur rider until u ended the trip.
Why not check ur fare detail n see how many miles u were paid for?

There is a small risk associated with doing this. If you get the cheap f pax who wants to try to contest the charge and say you didn't take him to the "second" drop off. Never happened to me, but I do know peeps it has happened to, thats why I like the Pax to do all changes in their rider app. I just don't want the hassle. In most cases, uber/lyft should be able to look at the pax phone gps and know they were in the car... but its still dealing with support from either of these companies that makes you want to kill someone.

if you got paid, then you got paid for actual miles driven and actual time it took. the problem only comes in if they dont pay you because you went past the original destination. i think uber gives you some leeway but dont push it. if its more than a mile or so its just good practice to have them update destination in the app.

Your talking an extra mile at most so it's really irrelevant. What .60 more ?

I would of just taken him to the closed bar and left him to order another ride, that's the best way to treat stupid Newport pax

I have no idea what I would have been paid to take him to his first destination?
Why would that matter ?

Any trip 2.6 or .7 miles or less is a min trip. What is that now, like a dollar and some change ?

That is an automatic 1 * . Unless a lyft trip where they have a 24 hr grace period .

You opened yourself up to the driver being able to make a story about how you just dropped him off at some random location since you didn't take him to the destination in app. He gets a free ride and you get deactivated pending an "investigation." Hopefully he isn't that type of guy.
