I agreed, These runs suck specially during rush hours, a fare to JFK is about $60, now you take $9-$11 with ez pass at the LT, then another $8 for QMT and $8 more to return and you are left with $33-$35 then you take Uber's cut and you are netting $27 minus $5 on gas and you get $22 for 2.5-3hr work or around $7 p/h, that is why Every time I see a pax with luggage I always ask them which airport are they headed, it they answer jfk or lga then I hit cancel and let the newbies take it.

5.75 with carpool. 9.75-11.75 regular Ezpass rates depending on times. Coming back is free!!!!!!! It takes longer but is freeeeeee!!!! Yesterday at noon I did a LGA in 90 min back in jersey. 35$ for me before gas. Not bad. That is 20$/hour.
I think you gotta check your math, $55- $5.75 (carpool ezpass) = $49.25 then take $8 for the QMT now you are at $41.25 now Uber's cut is $8.25 and you are left with $33 take $5 for gas and you are netting $27 for 3hrs work that's 9p/h,
now if you want to save 30 minutes then you pay another $8 at the QMT and you are left with $19 for 2.5 hrs or around $7.50p/h, and this hourly rate can go down even more if you are only taking 1 pax.

Wow this is crazy. I have never paid a penny in order to get back to NJ (except the cost of gas of course). Also, I don't think I ever took QMT on the way to either LGA or JFK. My preferred route is Manhattan Bridge + BQE. Riders can complain all they want - at 1.10 per mile they're getting an amazing deal, so whatever. But I don't think anyone ever complained. I usually say "I'll take a bridge and that will save you $8", and since 90% of my riders are super cheap, they usually enthusiastically agree
Sure it is cheaper doing your route but 4hrs for this trip, is it really worth it?
And at what times are you getting on the BQE? Every time I get out of JFK the BQE is a parking lot, so I just avoid it.

My math is perfectly fine. My English not the best. 55$ minus 1$ SRF, is 54$. Take out 20$ for the toll. Now I got 34$. Take 7$ uber fee out of 34$ and I got 27$. Add 10$ from the toll and you got 37$. Don t use midtown tunnel and you get back to Jersey with 33-38$ in your packet in 1.5-2 hour. That is not bad. I do not calculate gas. I spend 3 tanks a week so I just calculate one time 120$/week or less now with the gas being crazy cheap. No LGA/JFK at rush hour on regular price. Not worth it. I think 15$/hour is great. Min wage is 8.25 in Jersey
I uber early in the morning 5am-11am and this is when Most rides to JFK happens and I have never made it back to jersey in less than 2.5hrs unless before 4am.

Well to be fair I usually do airport runs in early morning (before 7am), and it takes about 30 min to LGA (from Hoboken/JC area), and about 40 min to JFK. Coming back can be a hassle, agreed. But early mornings fares surge a lot. The most recent JFK run was $99 gross (surged at 2.3), and once I took someone to LGA at 2.8 surge for $84.

Sure, it's not always like that and sometimes it sucks. But I guess you have to mix good with bad.

I know you didn't ask for advice, but I'll give you one anyways :) If you want to make more money in less time, try early morning - 4am to 9am. It is common to make $150 NET in those 5 hours.
You must be real lucky, this is what I made in 6hrs in monday, 7am and 9am were to the city the first one took me 1hr and the 2nd one over 1.5hr to get back, I don't know how are you making it from the airport in about the same time.
