Using arrivals for what? A pickup?
Did the app specifically direct you to arrivals? Or did pax call and ask to be picked up there?

You know the rules about pickups in arrivals or anywhere else outside of the 3rd floor. Unless you are authorized to do so you run the risk of a large ticket.

If Uber/lyft were making a change that big we would know about it.

Yes. It means you must enter the garage from arrivals—as it has always been.

This sign is to alleviate confusion from the new rematch entry point which is accessed via departures.

Maybe a large amount of drivers during rush hours are trying to avoid the backup into arrivals and using the rematch entry point instead?

This is the Port reminding us where to go.
Tickets will likely come later if no one heeds their first warnings.

But rematch doesn't apply to taxis and they were included in the signage. Either way, I guess I'll ignore the signage and continue to use departures as normal.

You’d have to be on Airport freeway to see the signage, so I don’t know how much point there is in having a sign that the short cutters can’t see.

The problem with this airport and the traffic pattern is that it was not built to allow a lot of traffic from departures to arrivals.

When in doubt, always go straight to the source, I just got off the phone with the Ground Transportation Office @ SeaTac:

During peak drop-off times only (i.e. 5a-7a), and when that message is posted... you are ok to drop at Arrivals.

The Port is testing this to help alieviate congestion during peak drop-off periods.

This is a good thing as the Port is showing some flexibility. Enjoy.

Warning... do not use Arrivals for pickups... you are still to use the garage.

Addition: They will be testing this again tomorrow (Thurs AM).

awtprod Great question. Glad we could find out the answer.

Dex - thanks for the info, does this mean you MUST use arrivals or you MAY use arrivals? Sorry if this question sounds stupid, just want to make sure I get it right.
That's what I'm wondering....I'll play it by how busy it is. I do XL, and I'm not going to force a family of 3 with big ass suitcases and carryons to go to arrivals and haul all that shit up the escalators. I usually ask, if departures is busy and PAX has no luggage if they want to go to arrivals, anyway.

Just returned from the airport. In addition to the sign shown above, there are two large mobile traffic alert boards at the entrance, you can't miss them. It led me to believe that it wasn't an option to use departures so I dropped my passengers off at arrivals with a little nervous trepidation. I did not see any other ride share vehicles or taxis so I was thinking I screwed up and got the hell out of there as quick as I could. Glad this is not the case.
