Anyone hear about this new company. How is this different from ordering an UberX ride?

Uber Health

Almost 4 million Americans miss healthcare appointments due to transportation issues. Patients are twice as likely to no-show if they're reliant on public transit. Breaking down logistical barriers to care will make healthcare more efficient and potentially save lives. This is why Uber Health was established and this is our passion.

This is a service for health care providers. hospitals, clinics etc.
They order an UberX for their patients, and one of us is dispatched.
It is helpful for seniors that do not have a smartphone.
Lyft has had a similar offering for a while.

I was privy to some insider info on this a while back from my connections, and rideshare companies like Uber are now making a play to take over patient transportation from taxi companies (without the required licensed bonding and insurance requirements that are typically needed in a bid contract). Apparently, there has been some outreach to the financial departments at private and county hospital systems to undercut longstanding contracts by a factor of 60-75% off mileage rates. The millennial snowflakes working in accounting have been clamoring for their bosses to shift costs over to gig economy for their transportation needs, and many receive a stipend using uber/lyft to commute to/from work.

What Uber and Lyft won't tell drivers... the patient being discharged home may have been released from the psych ward. Of course, you are not privy to that important fact since it would violate HIPAA privacy regulations. Let me know how that ride turns out for you.
