A fellow forum member received a very concerning message from Uber in which Uber attempts to shake off responsibility for anything.

Here is an extract from the letter from Uber to a Driver:
"....However, as our independent partner, questions such as this are left to your discretion...."
WOW.. here they go again. Uber is now trying to place emphasis on the fact that you are an 'independent' so that can shrug all liability and only take the upside $$. What is an independent partner anyway? The word partner literally means not alone and SHARED risk!

FYI Here is the full message:

Hi
Thank you for writing in. I'm happy to help.

Regarding your concern, I'd like to inform you that we do allow our riders to request for another rider. However, as our independent partner, questions such as this are left to your discretion. You are certainly never required to start a trip with a passenger and if you feel uncomfortable with having an underage rider, you may politely cancel the trip. If you completed a trip with a rider that you believe to be under an appropriate age and you'd like us to investigate further, feel free to let us know.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

Warm regards,

xxxxx

So, what is it? Uber policy claims that a driver is under absolutely no obligation to provide a ride for a non-account holder, a minor can't have a Uber account. Appropriate age? Wtf?

Uber and Lyft both defraud driver and wink and nod when riders do, too, because none of them care. They're destroying the cab industry all the while, as well. Drivers should not put up with this. Contact your attorney generals, political representatives, and media to expose this crap. It's the only way it will be dealt with.

As long as drivers shrug their shoulders, this crap will continue and it will only get worse.

I know what you are talking about, had one Friday morning going to a k thru 3 school. Not happy of course but no big deal, until two children around ages 5 and 6 came out with book bags unescorted. I told the kids they need an adult who ordered the right or at least someone close to being an adult. The drivers must make them abide by the RULES. 3rd party pickups should be disallowed due to insurance issues. Uber would love to say you aren't the application user no million dollar coverage for you.
