I totaled Friday and Saturday nights in Jacksonville. Uber got 50% of fares. Worst was 68% of fare. Also, the less you get with a minimum fare, they get more than you. $3.20 vs $4.87. No increases from Uber that I know of in 2 years. 180 Days of Change does not tell you who real change was for.
For one entitled rider, Uber took nothing for their part. No tip either.
The more Uber takes for a ride, the less chance of a tip.
I now show riders how much Uber gets on a fare.

So when I first read this post I thought your numbers sounded high, but you were right on. I totalled my last 10 rides, and Uber got almost 41% of the take overall, but for three of those ten rides Uber got 60%. For longer or XL trips the percentage goes down once you get past that initial fee, but those short rides on X are killer.

I agree with you, we need to start telling riders how much we get paid so they have a little sympathy. Pax get pissed at me for not stopping at the 30-45 minute Taco Bell line on their way home from the beach bars, until I tell them that I only make a few cents per minute when we're sitting still.
